Fox coilovers, how much lift?

Does anyone know how much lift Fox coilovers will give you up front? Most other brands advertise the lift as adjustable from 0-3.5 Fox just says 2.5 which I think is the diameter of the shock not the lift height.

are they the remote resis' or the IFP shocks? if they're the remote resis then ebg18t may be able to help you with this

Fox's come in a few varieties. Performance series & Factory series. The Factory series come in 2" & 2.5" diameter versions. The Performance are entry level and should be adjustable to 2.5-3" of lift no problem, if I recall correctly all of the Performance are 2" diameter. Factory are also ride height adjustable to 3".

The Performance are just basic mono-tube coil-over shocks with 5/8" shafts that are ride height adjustable.

The Factory series (non-resi) are mono tube with 7/8"shafts that are ride height adjustable. If you add the resi you gain volume via the external resivoir.

On the Factory series you can also add 8-way external compression adjustment on the external resi. Or the new 10-way compression adjustor.

Personally I run the Factory Series with external Resi's with 8-way adjusters. I have had them revalved a few times and right now they are just right. I. An run washboard and woops no problem. But they are still good for a daily driver.

I ran a spacer lift, Bilsteins, OME and went back to my standby Fox's.

I've got the Performance 2.0. I was easily able to get 3in of lift without having to adjust them from the way they were set from the factory. Unlike the 2.5's only Fox can revalve them. The ride has been great so far and on the mild trails I taken my 4r on. We'll see how they do once I get my new bumper on. They have 600# springs so I don't think I'll have to raise them too much to maintain my 3in lift.

Ive been chomping on the bit for the 2.5 Factory series. My Bilsteins are great for an off the shelf shock. I really want a shock I can change the valving myself.

Do you know if the 2.5 remote resi can be run without aftermarket uniball upper arms?

Sort of. They make 2 offerings in the 2.5" resi. One for 0-2" lift that does not require aftermarket UCA and a version that is 0-3" which requires aftermarket UCA. In all honesty I am not sure what the difference is, but if you are going to be in the 3" range you will want new UCA's anyways. Plus you will need a sway bar relocate or remove the front bar (it will hit the spring).

The difference is what some companies market as "extended travel", which is basically a 1" longer shaft. That's what I run and basically you want aftermarket UCA's to be able to maximize the extra droop they give you.

Thanks for confirming my speculation. : thumbup:

Thank you guys very much for clarifying, didn't mean to thread jack, I just don't know many people with Fox's....and I have a set coming this weekend and wanted to confirm compatibility. I will also have a set of All Pro UCA's coming as well. I'll also order up a set of those sway bar relocate plates.

How would the rear fox 2.0 shocks with Toytec Superflex coils work for the rear?

From Fox Factory, the coilovers (either IFP or reservoir) should be preset to right about 2" of lift. You can crank up to 3.5" lift if you have the upper control arms and diff drop spacers. (not recommend to be that tall, will ride like s***)

We normally go up about 1/2" and add upper arm to correct alignment. Should clear 33" tires that are not too wide (12.5"+)

The 2.0" can be run without an upper arm, but that is why they only recommend 2" lift with out and UCA.

Any more q's, hit me up.

sorry to revive a thread... but was hoping to get some help.

Can I run these on my 2005 4runner V8 4x4 limited? (4) Fox 2.5" x 10" stroke piggyback coilovers

Or is it an overkill? Do I need to upgrade the UCA's? I really am not very knowledgeable on this but it looks like a great deal..

those are for a buggy style suspension. Piggy back reservoir would never clear upper arm. Normally we are using a 6-7" stroke shock for mid to long travel setups. Unless you complete redesign the upper mount i.e. custom hoop/mount it will not work.

You only need to upgrade the UCA if you go with the longer coilover version, we suggest this if you can swing it!

FOX makes a rear shocks for you, but that one wont work as its a universal race shock.

Let us know if we can answer any more questions.

We can offer a killer deal on FOX too, so hit us up if you want to go that route.

FOX SHOCK Group Buy/ Feeler is NOW if anyone is interested. You will not find a better deal on these anywhere else!

Hi - Looking for a little help please, I have a 2016 4Runner 2WD SR5 I am trying to get level, getting vehicle level is my only objective, I will be using stock tires and wheels. I went to my local 4WD shop to have leveling kit installed (probably was going to get 2.25 Inch Leveling Lift Kit by Pro Comp)
The Sales Rep steered me to FOX 2.0PS Coil IFP for the front and to leave the rear stock. His opinion that the shocks and springs would be superior to leveling kit.

So I agree to FOX front shocks/springs and have them installed.... but now the front sits higher than the back. I took the 4Runner back twice and the shop said its fine as is, they did not want to make the adjustments.

Should I ask them to adjust it down again? talk to a Manager?
Should I ask them to take off the shocks and go with leveling kit?

I just want a level vehicle, appreciate your feedback.

Jerry

Sounds like you were upsold significantly if you came in for a leveling kit and left with Fox coilovers. But the salesman was right, it's a much better set up.

If they left you nose high and you are unhappy with it because that wasn't what you came in for, then they should make it right. It's easy to adjust the height and they should be happy to do it for you by decreasing the pre-load. All it takes is turning the collar a few a times.

It's not up to them to determine what is "fine" or acceptable on your vehicle. If you're not happy with the way it looks, have them fix it. If they don't, you could easily do it yourself. Just do a little reading or find a local forum member that knows what they're doing to help you figure it out.

Hope that helps. Good luck.

I want to put Fox Coilovers, part number 985-02-003 and the website says 0-2" but this thread seems to say I can get a 3" with Performance coilovers so am I able to get a 2" only or up to a 3"?

I had them on my V8 4wd and they were under sprung. I cranked them up to 2.75" and the springs started to bow pretty good. I have since upgraded to King 2.5" with a heavier than stock spring rate. Happier now, on and off road.
