Frame Rot Near Upper Control Arm

Is this truck worth fixing? I'm considering replacing the entire suspension (have been for a year now) but noticed this when examining the frame.

The rest of the frame has some rust which I cleaned up last year and was just surface rust. This looks like surface rust but it's not looking so good to me.

What is your opinion? How many years do you think this frame has left?

Where's the rust? I see surface rust but nothing that is terminal, looks pretty normal for the NE. Maybe I'm missing something though. If you can rap it with a pointy hammer and not make a hole then you are good to go. Use a wire brush and see what will come off. From what I've seen, the areas that are prone to perforation are generally horizontal where it can hold salt and moisture.

What I can see doesn't look that bad to me either. But, I'm certainly no expert since I live in the southeast. But I've seen a whole lot worse on vehicles that had migrated south. I'm so thankful we don't have that problem here.

Agree with previous responses - my 03 had rot holes in several places, all the way through.

It will likely get worse over time. Depending on the climate/ salting of the roads you may not be able to prevent getting worse

So I think its worth considering how long youre planning to keep it. Youll likely get a few more years, but definitely not forever.
