Hey All,
It's been a while since I've posted. I sold my '99 about a year ago, and got myself an 03 Tundra.... Checkin out this forum and pics of my old ride's bringin back some good memories. Kinda missin the ol' runner.
Well...I pulled out my sound setup before I sold the 4Runner, and it's all just been sittin around catching dust for a year and i figured it's time I should do something with it before it goes to waste. I'm going to keep the 4 channel amp and install it in the Tundra with some new door speakers all around, but i decided that i don't want a sub in the cab of my truck.... a local stereo shop that's doing the install offered to take a partial trade on my 2nd amp, the sub and the JL clean sweep.
The only thing they probably won't take is the sub enclosure, so I'm offering it for free to anyone that wants it. I figure if I really tried hard enough, I could probably get a few bucks for it, but since this is such an awesome forum, and you folks have given a wealth of good advice and tips, I've decided to give a little something back to a member who might be able to put it to good use.
The enclosure itself is well made... It's got nice smooth edges, and looks pretty nice in place on the panel. It's got plenty of airspace in the enclosure that was good enough for my single 10" JL Audio 10w3v3-4 powered by a JL 250/1 amp. It put out some nice clean solid bass for the type of music I listen to and I was totally happy with the setup. I have the box, the black grill that you see in the picture, and some brown carpet to go with it. What you see in the picture is the box without carpet. (they didn't have any brown carpet during the time of install, so I had to come back for it on another day.)
Now the only one BAD thing about it is that in order to install it, you would have to cut out your side compartment in order for the enclosure to fit. I was a little pissed because the owner of the shop originally told me he'd be able to fit the sub in there with no problem, but when I came back to check on the progress, the installer had already carved it out and it was too late. If you really want the box, but you don't want to cut out your compartment, you can always just go to a junkyard, and pick up a replacement panel that you can carve out instead...a local junkyard quoted me somewhere around $75-$100 for the panel. But if you don't mind a little mutilation in the name of good sound, then you've got no problem at all.
So send me a PM or reply on the post if you're interested. I'll give first dibs to anyone in SoCal who can pick it up from the L.A. area. I'd really prefer a local pickup, but if anyone out of the area really wants it, and is willing to pay the shipping costs, I'll be willing to ship.
One last note....as I mentioned above, the local stereo shop offered to take a trade for my equipment, but i'm almost certain that they're only going to give me a fraction of what it's actually worth. Haven't got a quote from them yet, so I'll take offers if anyone's interested. If not, then it'll probably be gone by next week.
