fresh air control

Been have a foggy windshield. Looked on here and agree with a/c and fresh air.Problem is I don't think I'm getting fresh air. When I move the control it moves very easily but there dosen't seem to be any change. If I crack a window windshield clears. Question where is the vent for fresh air? I would like to see if cable came off.

I'm not 100% on where the fresh air comes from, maybe the cowl? I know after a light snow that if I blast the fresh air I get little snow flakes inside my 4runner. :) Maybe clear the cowl and look down to see if there is anything obstructing any vents in there. I've heard of people having mice make nests in their blower motor and other ducts, check and see if there is anything clogging the fresh air ducts and blower motor. If all else fails, I say you're on the right track looking for a broken or inoperable cable for your fresh/recirc air switch.

Yes the fresh air comes from the cowl up by the wiper blades. But it's tucked away so that no water could run in. But stick your head under the passenger side floor board and look for the cables. Maybe take the glove box out to access it better.
It's really not hard to do at all even if your have no clue what your doing. You can figure it out. Just poke your head in there and start looking around.

Assuming you have the manual control type, if you don't feel any resistance
when moving the control left/right, then most likely the cable is broken.
Happened to me many years ago. The damper can be seen operating with the glove box removed.
