from 4runner to rav4

i kindda rolled the 4runner and i do not have the time to swap parts to a new body. with that being said, i was gifted an 04 rav with some issues. over 300,000 miles and never a trans fluid change... a few p-codes and some body dings and dents.

all i can say is that i miss my 4runner but i dont miss 17mpg. 30mpg is a little better for a commuter car lol

it is unlikely that there will be another 4runner in the near future. i must say though, i will miss a forum as "active" as this.

Bummer on the roll yet glad you are ok. Well maybe you can get that rav4 a little more off-roady in the mean time! :cowboy:

Seriously. My wife has an 03. I posted a question on the Rav4 forum about a CEL code a while back, and it sat on the 1st page for almost 2 months.

Yeah Wife has a RAV4 and it serves the purpose, but its nothing to get excited about. Hope you kept the runner great long term project, sometimes you can find one with a blown engine on the cheap. I bought one for a donor vehicle, I wanted the interior for 700. Got it and the engine cranked an ran. Just sold the engine and tires for 600. A friend got a couple parts he wanted. I pulled some of the esoteric parts that may be needed later. I will see how much I get for scrap but I call it a good deal.

The reason for getting the 4runner in the 1st place was to tow a boat, however; that was also the summer that my 1st was born... Surprise, no boat. lol
he's a little lady killer though and its pretty funny. all in all, no regrets.

the 4runner would have been fun off road but that never happened and will the 32's and tundra brakes, it was a horrible commuter. 17-20 mpg at BEST.

i was starting to look into ways of selling it somehow but couldnt bring myself to do it and after it rolled, it made my decision a little easier; though it was still a struggle to come to terms with letting it go. but at this point in my life with an 8month old and buying a home, money and time are tight.

i took off the parts i wanted, sold a few others with the tires and called the local scrap yard to pick 'er up.

before the 4runner i had a matrix. it was ok but hated it. the forums were pretty active but nothing like this...

i also had an audi tt 225 6spd awd which i loved but was a $ pit and would not fit a car seat in the back and an 80's corvette that didnt even have back seats. both were sold in prep for the kid on the way.

i cant believe the rav4 has 300,000+miles on it with the original tranny fluid.

sucks, dont touch the trans fluid, just leave it if it wasn't changed regularly.
