Front and Rear Wiper Issues

Good afternoon,

I am having issue with both my front and rear wipers: the front wipers work but not on intermittent, the rear wiper will not work at all and neither of the washer pumps will work. I pulled out the tank and tested the washer motors and both work when connected to 12V so it has to be the switch/relay, etc. I read that you can replace the relay in the steering column to fix the intermittent non-op issue but what is the most likely cause of the rear wiper and front and rear washers not working; are they controlled by the same circuit? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

If you know the relay is bad, I'd replace it. Toyota has some funky wiring designs. I learned this when one of our power windows went out. If you check the wiring diagram, the rear wiper circuit might go through the relay. Best of luck with it.

Thanks a bunch for the reply. I looked at the wiring troubleshooting guide it would appear the relay is the one common item to the washers and rear wiper not working. I will start with the relay and go from there. now the question is, where do I find the part number for this magic piece?

Either pull the relay or drop by the dealer. Generally, I've found standard type relays(EFI, etc...) for Toyota are relatively inexpensive, even from the dealer. You know if they happen to have it in stock, it fails commonly.
