Wiper High Speed Only Problem

2000 4Runner. Front windshield wipers work on high speed only. First the intermittent speed went out, then later the low speed went out too. Later medium went out also. Now I have high speed only which will probably fail soon too.

This could be the lever switch in the steering column or the motor, but some vehicles have a wiper relay (not the intermittent relay in the lever switch) that maybe can cause the problem too.

I don't see a wiper relay in the fuse box in the engine compartment. Do these vehicles have a wiper relay? If so, where is it located? Thanks.

No relay, just 2 fuses and the switch along with the components occurring to the Electrical wiring diagram. So unless there is something wrong with your motor.. I would suspect the switch..

Thanks. That helped alot. Pulled the switch out of my spare 4runner and put it in. That was the problem.

Of all the warnings about how complicated it can be to work on steering columns, this was a breeze.
