Front Axle picture and help....

Can anyone help diagnose my driver's side front axle issue. My hope is that it is just a clamp missing on the boot. Any help and fixes for it? I have a 2006 Sport ed. V8 with 92K on the clock.

Looks like a torn boot to me, I have one too, been that way for awhile now! Planning to replace soon, honestly it's easier to go to autozone and buy a new axle instead of dealing with boots and grease! Cost is a little more, but worth it for me!

Like Sparky said, way easier to just get a new axle for $59 bucks from the auto parts store and swap the whole thing out. Then you will have a lifetime warranty on the axle also.

I tried fixing my boot and it was a PITA. Not worth the hassle.

they do sell universal boots, that can be installed on the vehicle.
they arent quite as good, but are an option if needed.

personally, i would do as suggested above. swap in a new axle.
that said, the leak isnt bad, and if the joint isnt making any noise, you could potentially leave it for a long time without any problems.

Just re-boot it(150 bucks or so). You will not get the life time warranty but the OEM are strong than after markets. Ask the 3rd Gen guys about it,lol.

After market boots may not be as thick compared to OEM. You can go inexpensive now but dealing with a rip or tear down the road is something to consider. I just did both mine...182k on the originals....the drive shafts were in good shape. Also replaced the outter seals on both sides and put AMSOIL Severe Gear in the diff.
