Front Bilstein 5100's No Grommets/Washers

should be 2 rubber bushings and 2 washers for each shock. I think they come separate with each shock in a little baggy. You can probably source some at any parts store. that sucks man!

The instructions for the front say to use all OE mounting components, aside from the dust boot and top nut:

Thanks a lot...you have helped a lot. WTH???? I don't have any of the "old" ones and why would I want to use re-use suspension parts with 257k miles on them if I did? They provide all the needed parts for the rear...but not the front??? I will call Bilstein in AM.... at least my work bench got cleaned off looking for that little parts bag!!

This is one of the problems with the new " redesigned " Tundra 5100 . Let us know how it gets resolved .

All Bilstein shocks(front and rear) should come with the bushings and washers no matter what. I ordered some last year and and they didn't come with them so I went to my work and got some. Depending on where you ordered these shocks you might want to call them first instead of Bilstein directly to see if they'll send you some.

That was what I told someone else recently but it turns out the new Tundra 5100 ( the one with the dust boot ) only comes with one rubber bushing .

That sucks. I got some older tundra 5100s a year ago and one came with the baggy of bushings and the other didn't.

Yeah, I thought that was weird too. I thought for sure they missed one, or one had fallen out somehow. Opened the second one to find only one bushing as well- the bag was definitely fully sealed. I assume the Tundra top hat is slightly different than ours somehow, and if I had a Tundra, I would understand the single bushing.
I do agree it's strange that they include rear bushings, but not front. [MENTION=119226]reelamin[/MENTION] you got the 5100 made for our rigs, and not the Tundra, correct?

So the conversation with Bilstein went like most peoples on here. I will do my best to sum it up, but I think everyone will get the overview. BILLSTEIN DID NOTHING AND OFFERED ME SHIT FOR SERVICE AND PARTS! THIS WAS A 10 MINUTE CONVERSATION TRYING TO GET ANY TYPE OF SERVICE OR PARTS FROM THEM EVEN IF I PAID.
Me...explained issue...Him/Use the parts from the vehicle...Me/I am using them with the same unit and not taking it apart, and why would I use worn out rubber bushings on brand new shocks...Him/All manufactures expect you to use the factory spring...Me/Not true here is why and I want the rubber bushings not springs....Him/Oh well you will need to source the parts from someone else...Me/Is there anything you can do or someone to suggest for the parts....HIM/No you will have to do that on your own.
Add me to the list of shit for service from Bilstein! I am stuck with it...so now to find the grommets and parts....and pay more than I already am for the expensive Bilsteins.
I see Wheelers offers a grommet kit for $20. Any other suggestions on how to get grommets/washers?
EDIT: Called Wheelers....Could not be more opposite to deal with so I ordered it right then. They also have had and heard continually the same service issues with Bilstein. They like the product so put up with it and work around their poor service. They put this kit together for this exact reason.

Thanks brother....looks like cost would be about the same as Wheelers when all done! I am pretty irritated....so when I was treated well, given understandable answers, and they had the product....yes I purchased emotionally like a little ***** from Wheelers Off Road!! LOL

It's frustrating that Bilstein isn't consistent with providing the mounting hardware/material. If it was across the board consistent either way, then that's one thing. But to provide new bushings and washers with the rear 5100, but not the front 5100 is poor planning on someone at Bilstein's part.

Wheelers is a good company to deal with . The little candy bag thrown in is enough to keep me a customer for life . But maybe they could substitute the candy bag with a couple of shock bushings ? :biggrin1:

Their instructions very specifically say what they include when you buy the 5100 shocks. I'm not sure why you are mad?
See step 2 of page 2 of the document I linked earlier. OE spring, OE mounting hardware, Bilstein top nut.
If non-included parts are worn out, get new ones through the dealer or if you want aftermarket replacements, go with those (from Wheeler's or whoever)

I have to agree with reelamin. Although yes, it says that the bushings are not included I think they should be. I just bought rear 5100's and they included the hardware and bushings. I also have to agree that Wheelers customer service....great! As someone already posted you will have new bushings and another bag of candy!

I agree with what your saying that it does say that in their instructions....so I have to order the shocks to find out they don't supply all the needed parts???.....but every other manufacturer does? Bottom line for me is very simple....this is an EXPECTED piece of this replacement component. I would gamble 99.99% of the people who have ever purchased or replaced shocks (outside of Bilstein 5100's) have never been intentionally missing key components.
I am moving on SLOWLY, but I will dang sure make it known to anyone to be prepared. OH...THAT BILSTEIN STICKER CAME RIGHT THE "F" OFF MY BEER FRIDGE THIS MORNING!! HAHAHAHAHA

It won't make you feel better... but the front 4600's also come without new top bushings. :biggrin1:
Luckily, those bushings were still in good shape when I put the 4600's on my 4Runner (when it still belonged to my dad) years ago...
