Front Brakes at 30% left...when to change?

Hey Folks,

Local tire shop said my front brakes have about 30% left...whatever that means.

Should I get them changed now?

you have sensors that will squeal once your pads need to be replaced. Ideally you would change them just before it hits the rotor, but it isn't a big deal as long you change them before all the friction material is gone and you are metal to metal.

Some might argue that you increase the risk of a stuck piston by going to the end of the pad life because as the pads wear the more the piston is exposed. Not really sure that would motivate me to replace the pads because pads are not much less than a rebuilt caliper.

Okay cool.

I'm just going to get them changed over xmas for reassurance...my Diff fluids, which I had wholely planned on changing myself but the summer flew by, are due as well, so might as well go to my local indie shop and get it all done.
