:redbrick:What are you guys using to replace the front brakes, I'm starting to get the shimmy when I use the brakes. I had them replaced about 15 months ago.

Tundra calipers, pads, and rotors. Stops on a dime now. Check into this upgrade to see if you rims will allow for caliper clearance.

Otherwise keep replacing rotors and pads frequently.

I was thinking sloted roters and pads. Has anyone had any luck with them?

Just go with the Tundra upgrade. It only costs a few bucks more than putting 4runner parts back on, and it dramatically improves braking performance. You can buy everything from a junkyard for under 200 bucks if you shop around, or buy brand new parts from RockAuto for about 350.

Now can I do the upgrade with a stock truck? Rims and all.....Figured if I do it now it would be ready for my lift and stuff.....

The guys are proving you with great advice. The Tundra upgrade will provide you with a big improvement in braking performance. Just spend a little more and do it right. It will be worth every penny.

This upgrade will require 16" wheels with the proper BS to clear the calipers.

Yes, if you have the right rims; most do. I just did this upgrade with the "5 spoke" rims. FANTASTIC upgrade.

I did the 199mm tundra upgrade earlier this year on my 00 runner and i love it. It's a direct bolt on, calibers, pads and rotors. The 231mm tundra upgrade would not work for me with my wheels without modifications. I think the 199mm and 231mm rotors are the same, just the calibers/pads are different. So if i upgrade my wheels i can just bolt on the 231's. Either way you go the tundra rotors are alot "beefier" compared to the oe 4runner rotors.

From RockAuto Auto Parts - this is what I plan to go with when I'm due for brakes.

RAYBESTOS Part # 96931 6 Bolt Holes Advanced Technology
Front

RAYBESTOS Part # RC11550 Loaded - Pads Included, Remanufactured; Professional Grade
Organic; 5.3" Pad Plate Length; Front Left

RAYBESTOS Part # RC11549 Loaded - Pads Included, Remanufactured; Professional Grade
Organic; 5.3" Pad Plate Length; Front Right

340 bucks plus shipping if you don't include the cores. If you sourced the parts locally expect to pay about another 100 bucks or so.

I purchased tundra remanned calibers, new pads and new brembo rotors from Worldpac for under 3 bills. I was kinda pissed that the brembo rotors were made in china, but i guess everything is now a days!

Any way to tell whether your ordering the 199 or 231?

read the provide links... the calipers stamped 13wl are the 231s, everything else is 199 i believe. but that info is in the links provided

Rockauto doesn't have close enough pics to tell. I've been looking around but only a certain few have it in the description.

Looks like you have 6 spokes which will require spacers.

OP: Read BigFishAllDay's thread. It has all the information you need to do this upgrade
