Front Bumper Removal and Instillation?

I purchased a replacement bumper and valance for my 1997 4Runner. The originals were damaged by an over enthusiastic parallel parker.

I have searched front bumper removal and instillation and only come up with a time lapse video of it being done. I also found a couple of schematics for the from end.

Are there any step-by-step instructional threads and or videos that can walk me through it? Can I do it myself or will I need assistance?

Not much out there as far as step by step but..

1. Get under 4runner toward the front.
2. unplug turn signals
3. unplug fogs if needed
4. remove bolts
5. Remove bumper

Not hard at all. Another hand is always helpful but should be able to do it in under an hour...more than likely less.

I kissed a guardrail in the ice and replaced my valance myself. Bumper was reused. The two hard parts were:

1) locating the three bolts on each side (two to the frame and one in the wheel well on each side).
2) Getting the screws/clips apart that hold the bumper to the valance. Since you're replacing both, it might be easier to get new if yours are corroded like mine were.

You can put the bumper/valance combo in place and it just sort of hangs there until you put the bolts in. This makes it easy to do by yourself. I have a '99, but I assume yours is not much different.

The steps are: 1) Remove six bolts. 2) Pull off bumper/valence combo. 3) Undo screws to separate valance.

Really easy... U Will want to take off the turn signals first. Then there are just 4 bolts for the chrome bumper. There will also be a couple smaller bolts on each side near the wheel well where the valance is secured to the chrome and the truck. U will see when u get under there..

That was easy!

6 bolts in total.

If you remove the grille it makes it easier to reach the bolts from the top, if that matters...
