Front Bumpers for 5th Gens

Backwoods Bumper

It looks big to most in pictures, so I figured I show a pic next to a couple stock TE's.

Hi All-
So I have read through this thread in it's entirety. I am trying to decide which bumper I want to put on my 2016 Trail. My offroading will be moderate at best...mostly forest service roads and trails and using it as my daily driver, family hauler, and reliable ride to our place in the mountains. Frankly, I am looking for a bumper that does the following:
1) looks cool :)
2) Winch compatable
3) As little impact on fuel MPG as possible since I already have a lift with 285's, roof rack, etc.

I am leaning towards the following:
Southern Style Speed hybrid:
2014+ 4Runner Slimline Hybrid front bumper - Front Bumpers - Southern Style OffRoad

Proline front bumper:
Toyota 4Runner 14-Up Front Elite Bumper

Pelfry Aluminum:
pelfreybilt off-road

Hefty Aluminum:
Store - Hefty Fabworks

I like the look of the Hefty the best I think. I like the weight savings of going with aluminum and honestly, I don't plan on getting stuck each week and having to be pulled out over and over so as to put stress on the bumper all the time resulting in aluminum fatigue. So...I think I am ok with aluminum?
I like the weight savings and simplicity of the Southern Speed bumper also but I already have lights on my roof rack so I don't see myself putting another light bar into the bumper like this particular bumper is designed to accommodate.

The proline is also nice so I am curious if many have any experience with the proline bumper??

I really would like to get the Hefty aluminum for the Southern Speed price! HAHA

And I thought the Pelfreybilt looked bad until I see this Backwoods. Both look just too big and bulky.

I've been interested in the proline bumper for my 2016 sr5, I emailed them about a week ago asking a couple of questions about the bumper... never got an email back.. :noidea:

I also emailed 4x4 labs, I got an email back in less than a hour.
In my opinion, customer service is pretty important.

Brutal words, but I can take it! As long as I'm happy and know what it looks like in person anyway. Knowing that my family is much safer with this bumper is key for me.

Not to be difficult, but how does this make your family safer? It's been beaten to death on here, but anytime you change the OEM designs, you change their safety engineering.

Some don't like the design of mine either and everyone has their own tastes. I get negative reviews/feedback with some of my choices as well. You're not alone. At least it seems like you can understand lol. It wasn't meant to bash you or your truck. Looking forward to see what else you have planned for your truck.

I appreciate the message. I did get a little butt hurt! Lol. But like you said, people have different tastes and that is what makes the world go around!:cheers:

Deer are all over the east end here in Long Island too. Never saw so many in my life until I moved here. I was hit by one a year ago in my passenger rear door and then again in the front passenger fender by the same one seconds later.

Thing came out of nowhere. And there's always more to follow. I grew up in MA and would always be up in NH, VT and ME. Also lived in Breckenridge, CO for some time. I think I could count on one hand how many I've seen while up there and out west. Didn't see too many when living in Clemson, SC either. It's so concentrated here on Long Island. I see them almost everyday.

I wanted to say thanks to everyone for the input and for all the info in this entire thread. It was extremely helpful to me in making a decision. Happy to report we've ordered a hefty fab aluminum front bumper for my 5th gen. Now just need to wait for it to ship!
Thanks again for this very helpful thread as I explored options.
 
Been on the lookout for the following:
White 5th gen with shrockworks front bumper with only center tubing... anyone happen to have any pics?

I'm about to purchase a SW front bumper and debating if I want the headlight tubings or not.

Does anyone know if Pelfreybilt is planning on making a version of their aluminum bumper that is compatible with 10-13 model years?
