Front corner lights on turning only

When I turn my headlights on, I'd like for the front corner light to stay off except when turning. Any ideas how to accomplish this? I did a lengthy and costly retrofit with halos on both low and high beams. The corner light detracts from the halos so that's why I want them off.

I saw a post where someone accomplished this but they were running filament bulbs not LED so the solution unfortunately wasn't relevant.

Which bulbs are you asking about? There’s the amber markers on the front corner and then there’s the parking/turn signal light. If it’s the parking/turn signal then why couldn’t you just tap the turn signal stalk wires to power two relays that send power through the positive lead on the parking light positive when turn signal is activated?

Pretty sure it’s illegal to drive your vehicle at night with front/rear marker lights disabled.

Sounds like OP is referring to the parking light, not side marker light.

I can think of two possible ways:

- check to see if there is a fuse for the parking lamp circuit, then pull that fuse. You’ll probably lose tail lights too, but maybe there is a separate one for parking & tail (unlikely). Could be under dash fuse box or under hood fuse box.

* or *

- isolate the power lead for the parking light circuit, then cut it or de-pin it from the connector

Frankly I would never do either.

Depending on the color of your halo lights, consider complimenting them with a better looking parking light. I use VLEDS stuff and currently have their Triton Extreme amber up front. They also have an outstanding switchback in the same Triton lineup, which can be had in 5k or 6k white when parking lights are on.

Thanks for the tip. You're right, I'm talking about the parking light. I considered the Tritons a while back; they look amazing, but that's kinda the opposite effect I'm going for now because it's the brightness of the light that's bothering me (I wrapped the halos in matte black vinyl tint to match the rest of the housing, which means the halos are a little outshined by the parking lights--they're switchbacks, but I prefer full time amber). Maybe there's a cheap/dim LED that would suit me. Something of the brightness of a filament bulb would be ok, but I don't like the slow glow blinking.

I may try your second idea and just add some quick connectors while I'm in there. If it becomes an issue or I change my mind, I can just plug back in. Thanks!

My Isuzu Trooper did that and I thought it was a pretty neat and useful feature. The illuminating light didn't blink, it just lit up that angled view when turning left or right, in conjunction with the blinker, and triggered by the blinker.

Wonder why manufacturers went away from it, or is Toyota just slacking on details because they can and still sell a ton.

I loved that Trooper, if you get a chance to drive a late 1990's to 2002 Trooper go for it.
