Front diff Question some help

hey guys i did some search but didnt get much so i was wondering if yall can help me out here. the front diff housing and carrier of our 3rd gen 4runners and the first gen tacoma are they different or same? and is there any difference between the v6 and v4 tacoma and 4runner?

Yes, the differentials are the same for the tacoma and the 4runner. Someone else can chime in here, but i think the only difference between the 4cyl and the 6cyl might be gearing. But I'm not positive.

V4 - that is funny.

For the most part they are the same. The Tacos with manual hubs do not have ADD (automatic disconnecting differential) aren't though. Their diffs will work but you lose the ability to keep the front diff and drive shaft from turning while in 2wd. You 4wd drive indicator might blink sense it is not sensing the front ADD.

Carriers are the same for all models.

And as already mentioned, gearing might be different.
 
hey thanks guys for the help i really appreciate it alot i needed the info because i want to get a front diff from a tacoma with 529s on cl and just wanted to make sure it will work thanks aagin
 
i read some where on this forum that some members wire a switch to there front add so they can use there front auto locker off when in tight turnsbut i couldnt find any info on it anymore anyone no or has done this mod?
