so i took the front doors off of my 2gen today. if you've been wondering about doing this, it's not much of a task. i did it in a few minutes with only a few tools and i love it! would have been easier with a buddy, but still a simple procedure.

You must not have electrics....
I procrastinate getting the doors because I have to wire all the electrics to a plug

i most certainly do have electric everything! i'm tired of seeing this. everyine says you have to cut wires etc... FALSE! there are 3 plugs on the driver side and 2 on the passenger side! simply roll down your windows and disconnect the plugs under the dash! simple thing to do. sticky this so 2GEN owners stop hacking up their wiring! lol :bravo:

better yet, when i get the time and get my hands on a digital camera i'll put together a 2gen door removal thread, put my runner back together, and point out the 5 factory plugs, put together a tool list and show you step by step. unless someone else wants to volunteer to do it before me. i only did the front doors as i have a 2 and 3 year old boys and the back doors need to stay on.

You sir need to do a write-up..pronto...

Not at I have the money for tube doors right now..lift and tube bumper are in the works..but soon I will. Start writing and taking pics.

Did you modify your hinges at all our just unbolt them? Relocate the mirrors?

Heres my doorless thread, I dont have electronics..

Edit.. huh. looks like I need up re host the pictures in that link..

i just unbolted them, i didn't do anything with the mirrors because here in SC to be legal you only need 1 on the whole truck, including the interior rear view, so i just have the rear view mirror.

you have to run tubes in cali loko? i'm just completely door less. granted, not ideal if i get t-boned or roll, but let's just hope that won't happen anytime soon. the breeze is nice, and i get a lot of looks from the :girl::girl::girl: in town

I would run the tubes cause my stupid big black arse would end up falling out taking a corner too fast...then I would feel stupid watching my truck go on down the trail without me.
Plus I live in the Nazi Cali..course I probably need some sort of door on the public roads...God forbid someone sees my shoes while I am driving..indecent.

And Foot..you are right, I have been toying with this idea since I saw yours and knew it was possible.

The passenger front caused me grief to no end.

That harness under the dash was so tight and had no slack so it was hard for me to get my fat fingers. Probably wasn't the best way, but I had to take out the glove box, unscrew the ECU, and then I could finally see the harness under the dash.

Even still, it was such a pain that I ended up cutting the wire at the door jamb and taking the door off so I could have enough room to fidget with my fingers to unplug the harness.

Please post write-up! lol I don't want to have to go through that again lol

i took off the glove box too, it's easy. like 4-5 screws i think off the top of my head, i'll do the write up when i can get ahold of a digi cam

dude, you can get a stick of DOM for like 30 bucks... even if you had to have someone bend it and weld it for you there is no reason to spend 215 dollars. i'll fab some up and make a price list. damn i need a camera, i've got 2 write ups to do!
