Front Grill Mod OEM look

Hey ya'll, I'm a proud owner of a Black 07 Lmtd 4x4 V6. When I first was looking for a 4runner I really liked the look of the sport with the smoked headlights and hood scoop, but decided on interior ammenties over asthetics.

Being a black truck it's hard to see the body lines. With the color-matched grill the front end looks car-like, especially without a hood scoop. I kind of like the look of the chrome/ smoke grill. I've seen pictures of folks plasti-dipping the center part of the chrome grill, but I'm looking for a more OEM look. Looking at the back of the grill it looks like you could remove just the center part.
Has anyone ever take off the center part of the chrome grill and put it on a color-matched grill? Think 2010+ 4runner. OR done the opposite. Take the center of a color-matched and put it on a chrome grill?

I'm leaning towards the second option one since it's black and will make it look more truck like. If I were to buy one and make it work I'd have BOTH of them to choose from.

I like the chrome on the grill, just the grill. The color matched one looks plain, it blends with the hood. The chrome makes it front more pronounced and truck-like.

My understanding is the color matched grills only came on the Limited, Sports came with the "smoked chrome", and the SR5 came with chrome. At least for the 2006-2009

I'm actually going to keep my black one and merge it with a smoke one.
