Front grille emblem removal

I'd like to remove the emblem in my front grille so I can paint it. It's the gold one and it's looking pretty bad. That and I'd just like it to be another color.

Any tips on how to remove it. I found two tabs on the back of the grille and tried it today, but couldn't get it. It was being stubborn and I was afraid of breaking it. Thanks....

Easiest way is to take the grill completely off

You have no chouice but to take the grill off because the emblem is screwed on from behind. Most people break the little tabs that hold the grill on, because as soon as you get one side unclipped, the other side wants to clip back in. I got pissed and just tore the damn thing off and zip tied it back on. It doesn't rattle anymore so I like the zip ties better, lol.

Yea just keep pressure on pulling the grille off while getting the tabs loose. Not too much pressure though. After you get it off and on a few times it gets super easy.

^^not gonna lie.. that video creeped me out lol. But, do dig the customization! Good work.

As for the OP's question, x5782347568 on taking the whole grille off. Tabs will give you a hell of a lot of trouble just fyi, and to be honest you'll prob break one. It happens, use zip ties haha... Probably the reason why I have all pearl black emblems and a gold front emblem, I'm too lazy to mess with that stupid stubborn grille.

First i measured the area the emblem goes then I looked on e-bay for a cool belt buckel that had the same or close dementions.Then I just used wire to attach it..

I plasti dipped mine black. I have a black 97. I think it looks good. I've got chrome bumpers and black paint. I thought gold trim looked Charles Barkley turrrrrble.
