Front Lift Options??

where did you get it done. maybe i can take mine there and they can fix the alignment.

The clearance was fine until I got the alignment done. I think that the people at the shop don't know what they are talking about. it was a firestone shop. All they say are that the specs are correct. but with so much room for change on the suspension there are different ways to make adjustments and still be within the specified range for alignment.

The worst part is that i'm going on a road trip up the california coast from L.A. to monterey --> Frisco --> redwood forest...

I guess this means if I put a front end 1" kit on with FJ wheel ( different offset ) and 265/70/17's I will rub like crazy. Thoughts on that ??

Flo I'm going to look at mine right now to see how it looks . OK I'm back , it's hard to find a good measuring point but measuring from the lowest body point on the front and back of the body I have approx 2" front clearance and 3" back clearance when wheels are straight. I'm running 265/70/17 Revos and the have 44k miles on them so they are worn a bit from new.

I also noticed you have Tundra wheels which have the same offset on back space as the FJ rim.

Falls. I believe the problem is with the alignment not the lift. If you get the 1" lift just be sure to take it to a good place for alignment.

firestone sucks!!! they told me that i needed a to get a bigger Upper control arm to get the alignment in spec FOR MY 3rd gen... and they still charged me $70 for basically nothing... they couldn't get it within spec and when i got it back it was way off spec because the caster was so off it pulled to the right like crazy... worse than before... NEVER EVER AGAIN WILL I GO TO FIRESTONE!!!

but for the 4th gen i went to L & G in san dimas... www.customtruckshop.com

I had the same wheels and tires before the lift with no rubbing (see first post). I didn't notice any rubbing after the lift either. I only noticed when i took it home from getting the alignment to take pictures. the wheels were off center.

Thanks. I should have measured mine before and after. I spoke with a coworker who owns a lifted tacoma. He said they have to lower the caster and adjust everything else accordingly. He said to check the forums. I haven't found anything. There is so much support for taco owners out there but not much for us 4th gen t4r guys.

At any rate i'm going on vacation this weekend. I guess I'll deal with all of this afterward. now that I've calmed down, it's not really that bad at the moment. The car still drives straight so that's good. It doesn't seem to rub while driving normally. so it's all good i guess. and to top it off Firestone gave me my money back. woohoo!!!

I've never heard of it either, otherwise I probably wouldn't have gotten the lift. I think firestone just sucks! After this incident I did some research online and it proved my theory that they do indeed SUCK.

The lift will push the wheels forward somewhat and that has to be adjusted for, just as the previous posts state. You need to call and ask for a place that has experience with lifted vehicles.
