Front Mud Flaps

Hello! I'm new to officially joining!!! OK - Now, I've just lifted my 99 4Runner, installed MOTO METAL Wheels, and new BFG AT...Tomorrow I am getting some touch up work done and they are removing my running boards. I need to find the Toyota Part number for L and R Front Mud guards that match the SR5 black molding around the fenders....They can't seem to find the ones that fit...

Are most of you getting them from Conicelli?

http://www.trademotion.com/partloca...0&make=34&model=4Runner&year=1997&catalogid=2

Does anyone know where I can find these?

ps...pics coming!

Thanks -

I purchased those mudflaps for the Base and SR5 model that you have indicated in the link, and they do NOT match up with the existing fender flares.

I am not sure where you can get ones that do and I am still looking for them.

Well - they may be what you are looking for, but I have a 97 SR5 and they didn't work for me.

If I can find my digital camera, I can take a picture of them and then maybe you'll know if they are what you are looking for..

EDIT: I bought mine from https://www.1sttoyotaparts.com different site, same format.. I would imagine it'd be the same part.

And these part #'s will fit perfectly on the front of my 02 4Runner?

I am not sure if they will fit, sorry I haven't been able to answer your PM I have been on my Reserve Duty for the Army and tied up.

Alright Evan....

Why would you say, they may not fit? What do you have on yours, they look extremely nice...I sure wish you would elaborate on your comment as a lot of people out here are looking for the proper fitment....obviously, you must know something we don't.

He is stating that they won't fit on an 02 because the only 4R's with the slim black textured plastic flares were the 1996-1999 ones.

revive a common question thread

Yes I see this is an old discussion but one that comes up fairly frequently.

There would appear to be several variations of front mudflaps-as there are at least a couple of varieties of fender flares/trim.

Trying to sum up for everyone's benefit that might be searching.

1/Some 4 Runners have the thin metal chrome pieces that accent the top of the wheel arches. These are not actual fender flares at all but just trim pieces.

2/ A lot of 3rd gen 4Runners came with running boards-so no actual front mudflap was provided-the forward edge of the running board contained a cap that would block road debris from soiling the tread surface of the boards.

3/ The thin plastic fender flares are I believe most commonly referred to as "SR5" flares.

4/ The beefier fender flares are commonly referred to as Sport flares.

5/ The Limited fender flares strongly resemble Sport flares-however the rear doors have plastic cladding that flows into the rear flare.

6/ A common aftermarket set of fender flares is made by Bushwacker-I have these now installed on my own ride-which replaced the thin metal trim I referenced above as #1.

Pictures are of course the most helpful-I found several here on this more recent thread:

http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/123144-wtb-sr5-flares.html

snowrunner in posting #2 of that thread shows pictures of flare types 3,4, and 5 though not exactly in that order.

I'm still on the hunt for the best option for my own front mudflaps. I've tried a couple of do it yourself flaps but have never been satisfied with the look or function.

If there are any Denver area members with Sport flares and factory front mudflaps I would welcome the opportunity to examine the fitment of one of yours to my Bushwacker flares. Cold beverages could be provided.

I removed my running boards a couple of days ago to do some rust repair and decided I didn't want to put them back on. I called my local Toyota dealer yesterday with supposedly the correct part numbers for the Sport front mud guards and he told me they should arrive this coming Tue. If they are the correct item I will post their contact info and pictures of the guards for those of you that are trying to find these elusive mud guards.

Are these the mudflaps? I located my pair about a month ago from 2 different dealerships. The 1 pictured is the pass/front that i found for a member here, i'm trying to locate the dr/front for him with no luck so far. I'm being told that they are discontinued.

Well, my local dealer was only able to get the passenger side mud guard in, and as we all know the mud guards have been discontinued with no driver's side available. I went ahead and purchased the one side hoping I will luck up and find a driver's side eventually. Got to roll with how things work out.

Trying to help friend, 1997 Sr5, needs front flaps, but better quality ones than OEM. What's out there that's decent?
