Congrats on the weight loss ! I've been slowly working hard to get rid of some of mine as well, so I know all too well how difficult it is. I cut out ALL alcohol last March and have been going swimming at least once a week for an hour, some weeks I'll do 2 days. I starting kayaking this summer, it's a good calorie burner. I'm down 25 lbs since January, I was hoping for more but at least it's steady coming off and should stay off as long as I keep up with the exercise and diet.[/QUOTE]
Thanks...I never was much of one for alcohol (one beer makes me stupid!) but the first thing I did was to cut out *all* junk food such as potato chips and cookies. I never did care for ice cream or candy, but those would have to go as well. There were times I could kill one of those Costco size bags of chips in 2 or 3 days

.
I then cut all food intake in half, and then cut some more, and what I do eat is much better for me as well (veggies, granola bars, tuna salad, etc) - no more TV dinners. I have half a freezer full of them that I will never eat...and the food banks don't want them. Also I have been riding my bike for several miles most every day, usually around the neighborhood and then out into the desert now that the rattlesnakes are chilling out with the cooler weather.
I was 212 lbs on Victoria Day, and now I am 161, pants went from a snug 40 to a comfortable 32, and shirts from x-large to medium. I am barely 5'9" (on a good day, in the morning) so that 212 on me was mostly a large gut

.
I did freak out my doctor last week when I went in for my annual exam...she hadn't seen me since I was 212 and I hadn't told her about the weight loss.
I am nearly 69 so I thought I'd better do it now or else I would likely get diabetes and/or also have problems with knees and other joints...and my doctor did cut off my high blood pressure pills. BP went from 140/90 to 110/65, and I feel much better physically and mentally
