Front Shocks

Hello,

I was on the trial and notice a rubbing noise. So a close look revealed the passenger side front shock came out of its upper mount. I could feel the bottom cup and bushing and the top nut. So I am guessing that some how something got bent and broke off. I noticed the hole seemed to be a little big. It is about twice as big as the shock shaft. I then went over to the driver's side and looked at that top mount. I was able to wiggle it in the hole on the driver's side. So is this normal?

Thanks,
Roscoe

No you should have bolts that hold those in place.

Sounds like your shock bushings are shot. How long have those shocks been on there? Might be time for new shocks.

Normally there should be a bushing donut above and below the top mount, squeezed firmly together by the top nut on the shock, so that nothing wiggles around.

Thanks that is what I was think. I have owned the vehicle for 4 years and they were on it when I bought it. So looks like I am changing some shocks.
