Front sway bar delete? Talk to me.

So of the four mounting bolts, I sheared on of the bolts off. The last one of course. I have an order in with [MENTION=98153]MStudt[/MENTION] for new links and am now wondering how to keep the sway bar. My general luck with removing a sheared bolt with this much left (about 1/4") is about zero. 2007 v8 4wd

So, options: extract the bolt or delete the sway bar.

Please weigh in.

depends on your suspension set up. I havent had my sway bar over 30k miles. Havent regretted any of it. But i also have coilovers and set up for it.

Run without it for awhile and see if you like it, if not then you can extract.

I removed mine and have never had any issues. I do however have FJ Coils and 5100's to stiffen the front up a bit.

They went out yesterday.

I only run a rear sway bar on mine. If you don't mind some body roll then it's no big deal. It also depends on what kind of roads you drive. For me it doesn't matter since I can from an older jeep with no sway bars at all.

One thing to try would be heating the sheared bolt. Heat it until you start hearing the rust popping. You should be able to turn it out at that point. If you're concerned with getting it that hot. You can heat and apply a wax candle to it. The heat will draw the wax in, and that should also loosen it up.

I run without a front sway bar. I have billy 5100s and one 885 up front, its a stiff setup. I don't regret taking off the bar and really don't notice its gone.

Icon Stage 2 is going in this weekend. The bolt break was a added benefit for the project. Along with a seized lower shock bolt that had to be cut out wit a die grinder and the discovery of bad inner boots.

I was reluctant to remove my sway bar after my Icon install but I pulled it anyway just to see how it felt. That was ~20k mi ago and it hasn't been back it. I live in So Cal with high speed curved on ramps and off ramps and its not a problem. Just recognize your truck isn't a Porsche and you'll be fine.

Wax better than a penetrating oil?

Wax in almost instant! you can heat it up and use penetrating oil the same way. I've done both, and it's about 50/50 on which one works better. Most of the time I can't find the penetrating oil so I steal my wife's candle.
