Yup, I got this exact press today but it was for my Civic since it needs both front wheel bearings. The total came out to be $151 for me so there might be even more discounts depending on the store.

Oh yes. I watched local business close for good because of the mandates issued by the governor here. The entire nation and world has been effected.
I am hoping 2021 is just going to be better then the previous.

From what I see, things are going to get a whole lot worse. I won't go into details of why I feel this way because then it's talking politics and I don't want to do that here.

Well, we do a casting call and pick the best looking ones. It doesn't matter if they're experienced at turning wrenches. It's all about appearance. Pretty simple. Ha ha.

Is it me or has T4R become a bit tame these days? Maybe I miss some of the old regulars I use to see more posts from like yourself. These days, I post a video and it's crickets. Like "Oh that's just Tim posting another video, no big deal." When I post our videos on some Facebook pages, the response is wayyyy better. There just doesn't seem to be the same enthusiasm anymore on this forum for what Sean and I are doing. I'll keep posting my videos here no doubt, but maybe I'll just add them to our master video thread and call it a day.

I have used your videos as a research tool/ reference point for a few projects on my 4Runner. Thankfully - knocking on wood- I have not needed to do anything major wrenching on my 4Runner lately. I have been able to focus on non-mechanical upgrades.

The Internet is cyclic and the people will come back around. Currently "slower" media like forums are still having a hard time hanging on. People tend to use app based media (FB, Instagram, and such) without understanding the benefit of a decently organized forum. Hopefully the cycle will come back around and good forums will have their day again.

My observation, of late on the forum, is that some folks are asking for ridiculous sums of money for used OEM 3rd gen. parts. Yes, 3rd gen. vehicles are sought after and can command a premium price but should we charging one another $150 for a tatty rear license plate garnish? The prices on ebay and parts.com are way cheaper. Shouldn't we as aficionados stop fleecing one another?
Rant over. Of course the above doesn't apply to all, [MENTION=254416]JROTN[/MENTION] is a first class seller for example.

Tim, Im working in West Africa and as you can imagine there isn't anywhere reliable here to work on my 3rd gen. Your videos have been a life saver and Ive learned quite a bit... Thanks to you and Sean for the effort, I hope the vids keep coming.....!

Wow, definitely one of the most farthest users I've seen on here! I'd love to hear what it's like out there some time. I knew the UN used 4Runners in Africa but I didn't know they were sold commercially

Even though Tim's post is old I'll chime in with my 2 cents; I've only been here a year and even I noticed the same thing, not much excitement here compared to when I first joined. Hell there's even more enthusiasm on youtube than here. I think it's mostly due to what he said about the crowd here being more "tame" - when you look around it seems like there's only a handful of us that post pretty routinely these days, and of that even less have crazy builds or do real hardcore wheeling. Which could be a demographic thing, I've noticed plenty of us here are in our 20s (or sometimes younger) and most people that young can't really justify dumping a dozen grand or two into building a crazy rock crawler, and making all the repairs that come along the way. To boot it looks like those who aren't free young adults here are proud parents with a family of their own, with not exactly a lot of free time to constantly wrench, wheel, break things and do it all over again
But with that said I feel like it's mostly just life getting in the way of people, we're a year later and many are still finding their lives have been flipped on their head no different than the beginning of the pandemic. If you look around the major build threads from senior members you'll notice a lot of them going cold last year only to be updated with something in 2021 along the lines of "hey guys sorry I haven't posted in a while, life's been hectic." I don't think it's a popularity thing with our cars like some have suggested, our 4Runners in particular have gained TONS of following over the past couple years; people just have a lot going on

That's a shame. I'm unwilling to pay the high cost of Facebook, but I've seen the trend that direction for a long time now (from multiples of other forums). But it's happened before, twice that I recall. Once was the shifting from Usenet to Email listservs (early-mid 1990s), then from those Listservs to Forums (late 1990s/early 2000s).

I always check for videos from you anyway (don't have a google/youtube account either, same exorbitant cost I'm unwilling to pay), more because I enjoy watching them than for the need to fix or do anything these days. I imagine you have a fairly large silent following like myself, at least I *hope* you do... don't want to think I'm the only one who avoids the places you're getting the most feedback.

When you say the High Cost of these social media platforms, I'm assuming you're talking about the BS that goes along with being on them. I tolerate Facebook, YouTube and Instagram because it serves me and my channel. If it gives you any clue to the way I feel about most social media platforms, I'm politically conservative and detest the blatant censorship I've witnessed. It's seriously disturbing what I've witnessed over the last couple of years with the bullshit "Fact Checkers" and flat out banning conservative voices on the Big 3, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram. If these platforms didn't help me with sharing the videos we make, I'd stay the hell off. But, I can reach and help more people on these platforms so I stay active on them. I don't do Instagram but Sean does. I handle the Facebook pages and we share the responsibility of the YouTube channel.

More the data gathering and profiling... No one needs my name, phone number, date of birth, address, social security number and mothers maiden name so I can make an opinion post, or view contact information for a item for sale.

But yes, the 1984 aspect of steering information is another point of irritation/reason to boycott.
