Front windows - tinted?

Is there any tint on the front windows from the factory? State law is 35% so trying to determine if I can use 35% or if that would make it too dark. Cops around here are pretty picky about it, so want to make sure I'm legal.

I slapped 5% on top of the "factory tint" It looks like I painted them black LOL

no there is no tint on the front windows from the factory but they normally test out around 72% or so.

Thanks for this. Is there an accepted means by which to calculate what % of light gets through based on adding tint? For instance if I put 50% on the fronts is it as simple as calculating 50% of 72% which is 36%?

The local police carry the meters and don't hesitate to use them. I do not want to go below 35%.
