Front Windshield Fluid not Working

Hi,

This is my first post here. I have a 2000 4Runner SR5. Recently the front windshield fluid stopped working. It still works in the back, so I assume its not a pump problem. I will try cleaning the holes out, but I don't think all 4 would go at once.

Any ideas? Should I see if the hose broke?

Can you hear the pump when you try? I assume you checked the fluid level. The nozzles (if that's what you call those little things) can get clogged with dirt pretty easily, maybe try to clear them out with a paper clip or similar.

Can you hear the pump when you try to run the front washer jets?? Theres probably 2 pumps in the reservoir. One for front and one for back. Check fluid level. If pump runs but no fluid comes out. Then pop hood and check for washer fluid under hood. If hose broke or cracked, you will see it all wet under there.

I thought I had a broken pump only to have my mechanic point out that the tube came off the nipple to wiper jets - was a simple fix

ok, bring this thread back from the dead to avoid creating a new one.

ok so my problem is as follows: all windshield wipers are working on my 96 4runner, and the rear washer jet is working. The problem is the front washer jets are not working.

I have cleared all the lines and rinsed out the reservoir. I have switched the hose lines that run to the back washer jet to run to the front jets, and they worked fine. (this will be my solution to the problem if no one can help me) So the problem seemed to be with the front pump. Took the pump out and just hooked it up to a 12 volt source and it spun like a top, just fine. So, my guess it the pump isn't getting power.

So, my question. Is there some fuse i don't know about somewhere, or a relay; or is the switch in the steering column bad?

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

The fuse that controls front and rear wipers, and front and rear washers is the same. If the wipers and rear washer are working fine, its not the fuse.
Check the conector of the front washer pump with a multimeter and see if its getting power. If not, its either the switch in the steering column or a broken wire.
Try to swap the switch with another one(that you know that works good) and see if it works.

I've had the same problem, rear was working but the front wasn't spraying, come to find out damn rats had ate through a wire on the pump so simply reconnected the wire and it worked fine, maybe try the wiring right at the pump

i appreciate the responses guys. it turns out im just a dumbass. when i pulled the motor to go bench test it, i pulled both motors off and only tested one because i knew one was working. i think you guys see where this is going...

Anyway new 15 dollar autozone pump and im good to go again.

I'm gonna revive this thread because I have replaced the stalk and the pump- I swapped the hoses so the rear pump operates the front wipers, but thats kind of rigged and I would like a complete fix. Has anyone replaced the wiring at all? I seem to have a short somewhere between the where the stalk plugs into the steering column and the pump...

Have you checked the fuse? Have you checked if you're getting power to the pump? You're probably going to need to look at the wiring diagram to help you narrow down your problem. Problem could be switch, wiring, pump, etc. You need to either rule out all the things that it isn't until you're satisfied you have found the issue, or find the failure and repair that.

Same issues, but, rear washers work, (you can hear the pump and fluid sprays on rear window), for front, you can't hear any pump kick on.

Is there a fuse just for the front? Or is fuse for front and rear pumps?

Any ideas? Also, already forgot which pump is front and rear, lol.

Disconnect one motor connector. Try to turn on rear washer. Did connected pump work?
Reconnect first one and disconnect the other. Try to turn on rear washer. Did connected pump work?

Got volt-meter?
I only see one 20-amp fuse for wiper. Attached are for 1998 4Runner...

Yes, find out which pump/motor is working.
Use power to that to run the other motor/pump.

Will check soon. Btw, checked another post and for those that were asking earlier in this thread... The front motor is on front right of my pic, and rear motor is the one on passenger side of tank.

Find out which motor and connector combo runs. Then switch motors and connectors. Whichever follows the problem is the problem.
