Front Windshield Trim Strip Coming Off

This morning I had an issue on the way to work where the RHS front windshield strip came off. Twice I had to pull over and try to reseat it with no luck and continued on to work after it came loose for the third time. I'm surprised that this piece is not held in place by clips but by glue? Can anybody confirm this? Toyota calls the piece a "Reveal Molding" (7553335050). I guess I will have to find some windshield adhesive and and reapply this piece.

I had this happen this past winter. It was my driver side bottom piece. I think I may have went at it with the ice scraper a little too hard. I was lucky enough to get it to snap back in to place. Let me know of any solutions. I have been lucky so far and it has stayed put. However I am sure it will come loose again.

Well now that it's light out I went back out and looked at it. About 5-6 years ago I had the glass replaced due to a crack. Looks like the installer peeled the trim back destroying the original double sided adhesive tape holding it on and reapplied it using 3 nickel sized dollops of what I assume to be left over windshield adhesive for the whole piece. Looks like I'll be reapplying it in a similar manner as I've got Betalink K1 adhesive that works extremely well for this type of scenario.

I had to glue the strips on my 4th gen a little while after each windshield replacement as well. I'm on the 4th windshield. The last one is from a few years ago and I probably need to re-glue the left strip again since I can tell it's lifting just a little.

Thanks for that feedback. I've been lucky to only been through one glass on this truck (owned since new). At least I know that this is the way that they are affixed to the pillar area. I at least expected clips of some sort to be holding these in place.

Any pictures? I ask, as I was thinking of running wires for a roof top light bar down the windshield, in the space covered by the molding I think you're mentioning... I have been hesitant to pull it all back and check it out though for fear of breaking clips (as like you, I thought that's how it'd be held on).

Nope, no clips at all. Looks like this was all held in by double sided tape. I can only speculate that my only reason for failure is that the trim was disturbed from it's original state since I had the front glass replaced. There was nothing special about what was underneath. If you're going to mount a light and run the wiring down the A-Pillar, then it should be fairly simple; sorry for the no pics as I had this together rather quickly. If I go the route of a light bar I might do this myself and run the wire all the way down to the cowl and continue on from there.
