Frontrunner DIY

Tracking shows I will be getting my full length frontrunner rack tomorrow. I have looked at their manual to install the rack but it's bit confusion. Maybe I'll understand better once I lay down everything but does anybody have DIY? What are some tools I should invest before I work on it?

Thanks,

I bought a Rivnut Tool from Amazon. I also purchased an 11.5mm drill bit as all of mine were standard sizes.

in addition: I used a rubber mallet to tap the slats into the sides. I also had an issue getting the basket corner holes to match up, i had to drill the hole a little bigger on two so they would properly fit.

Do you have a link for the Rivnut tool from amazon? I went to walmart and found one but wasn't sure if it was going to fit. thanks,

What rivnut tool did you get? The best one I found is the tool from frontrunner

I haven't gotten up there and looked, but will a pair of wrenches and a nut and bolt not work? Not sure if there's a clearance issue being in the roof channel or not.

I have the partial rack sitting in my garage that I haven't installed.. would love a step by step instruction myself.

Assembly is easy, just make sure to lay something down so the rack doesn't get scratched as you build it; Front Runner's powdercoat is pretty shoddy.

The instructions with the rack are very easy to follow for the 3/4 rack (even I did it without screwing up). I didn't even do a complete mod for dummies write-up, but I have some install pics on posts 87-90 in my thread here. If you have any questions shoot me a pm.

Did my install two weeks ago. All I can say is take your time and lay something down on ground when building it, scratches really easy. Good luck!

We laid the rack on the roof and marked the holes versus measure. We wanted to be sure and worked out fine.

Put the side rails, foot rails, whatever you wanna call them together then mark the middle of the holes when you put it on the roof. That's what I did.

Yes, I already assembled the slider thing... I'm just going to laid them out and circle the front section.. I got the rivnut tool here as well.
