1987 Toyota 4Runner SR5
1987 Toyota 4 Runner SR5 22RE 5 speed. Came from New Mexico a few years ago, only seen 3 VT winters. VERY CLEAN FRAME. The body has some surface rust that Ive started taking care of in my free time, but NO ROT ANYWHERE! all 4 fenders are SOLID! But could use a paint job.
260k on body, and it shows, pictures make it look better than real life. Some dents/scrapes. 80k on motor put in in October with new clutch and fresh timing chain. 180K on 4.56 V6 gears out of a 95 4runner. New alternator in November, New Front pads/calipers/rotors in December. Runs great 20mpg. Uses some oil due to bad valve seals, the only seal I didnt replace when the motor was changed out. Until recently I drove it 60 miles a day without hesitation. Will need a muffler before inspection is up in December.
Older American Racing rims with 31" mud/snow tires with descent tread.
Starts hard on rainy/foggy mornings. New plugs/cap/rotor/wires/coil when the motor was put in.
Warn locking hubs that you can turn with your fingers, 4wd work great every time. Fresh GL4 fluid in the Tranny, and 80-90 in the Transfer case.
Interior is OK, Front seats have some tears. Rear seat is out of an old CJ. Sony/Panasonic stereo, plenty loud even with the top off. SR5 gauge cluster, and clintometer. Drivers window needs a little help going up the last inch. Smoker windows in the doors.
