1989 Toyota 4Runner V6 SAS Manual 178,000 mi (RUST FREE)
Convertible Top & Solid Front Axle!
(Also includes soft top)
I have owned this 4Runner for about 5 years now. The previous owner owned it for approximately 2 years. Before him, the 4Runner spent most of its life in rust-free Arizona. According to Carfax, it was wrecked (and now has a salvage title) back in the day.
This is the work that has been done to the truck before I have owned it:
-It has a beautiful, forest-green paint job. They paint on the sides and back of the truck is beautiful. The hood and the top of the truck is blotchy and missing its clear coat. Nevertheless, the body is RUST FREE.
-Someone has done a solid axle swap on the truck so the truck does have a solid front axle. They also welded the spider gears so that when the manual front hubs are engaged, it acts as a front locker.
-The truck is lifted (don’t know how much) and rides on 32’s
-The 3 gauge instrument panel that includes the inclinometer and the altimeter are completely functional. The lighting to which, has been restored.
-The back window has been replaced.
This is the work that I have done or have had done in the last five years of my ownership:
-New timing belt, water pump, and guides
-New radiator, thermostat, and hoses
-New spark plugs, distributor, and cap
-New rear wheel cylinders, new front calipers
-New engine mounts
-New muffler
-New temp. sensor
What needs to be fixed:
-There is a small coolant leak which I believe to be from a hose.
-There is an oil leak that I do not know where it’s coming from.
-Both leaks are fairly small—I might top off the fluids every 2-3 weeks.
-The rear end is making noise—I think it is the pinion bearing.
-There is a small amount of surface rust on the removable hardtop
Over all, this is a great truck! The body is beautiful, the engine & transmission pull hard, and it can hold its own on the trail. The reason that I am selling this (and my other toys) is that I need a family friendly vehicle.
During the first two years of ownership, this was my daily driver. After that, I changed jobs and had a very long commute and found a new daily driver. The last three years, I have driven the truck 2 or 3 times a month and haven’t put on many miles.
Normally, I would list this 4Runner around $6500 or so due to the excellent condition of the body and the inclusion of the soft top in this sale. Because of the work that it needs, I’m listing this as $5500, OBO
