I've been a Toyota fan since my college days 20 years ago. I keep losing 4Runners to accidents. The first one was a 92 4Runner with 220,000 miles that got hit while parked by a lady that had a seizure. That was nearly ten years ago. I then bought this green 98 4Runner with about 85,000 miles on it when I picked it up but in October 2013 I got t-boned on the passenger side. I just recently bought a 2004 4Runner so am ready to pass on my 98 4Runner to someone that might want it for a project truck, a muddin' truck, a work truck, a haulin' truck or for parts (all the parts as I am not parting out due to no garage or yard to store it in).
I still drive this vehicle once or twice a week. The frame was damaged where the side pillar was bent. Pulls to the side while driving. Tires are probably at 40% tread left. Has trailer hitch. Mechanically it has been good with just the normal maintenance required since I bought it with 85,000 miles - now it is up to 187,XXX.
Rear passenger door does not open - I haven't actually tried but caulked the door seal immediately after the accident. All lights work. Check engine light is on but I think it is just an O2 sensor or something minor. I'm guessing it won't pass Maryland state inspection due to the frame damage but everything else works. Your state may have different rules but I am selling "as-is, where-is". Cash only. Located in Baltimore City.
Yes it does start and drives and you could drive it home. Or bring a trailer. Your choice. I'm new to this forum so let me know what other info you might need. I'm not a mechanic but have owned five Toyotas since college.
