Up for sale is my 1998 Toyota 4runner. Has a Trail Gear SAS thats less then a year old. Only 3000 miles on the swap if that. SAS was done with the help of IWC Motorsports. Driven this to and through many trails through Big Bear, Truck Haven, and Johnson Valley with no problems at all. Has all the comforts of a stock interior including A/C and heat with power everything. Great for camping, expedition, or rock crawling this 3rd gen 4runner was built to be a multipurpose rig.

Will continue to update this ad as I remember anything else that I've forgotten. There's so much more to list but those are just some of the highlights of the build.

Vehicle has just been smogged and registration is paid till next June. Title is in hand in my name ready for sale. Has 269,000 miles on motor and trans but maintenance is up to date with newly replaced parts including the timing belt, water pump, radiator, fan clutch, and all fluids. Has a rear main seal leak and just recently developed a trans case seal leak. Also ABS light is on because of the swap. Has no other problems besides that. Vehicle has a salvage title only due lower ball joint failing and insurance totaling it rather then replacing the whole front end. SAS has taken care of that issue though.

Thank you. It been tough selling it on craigslist. Most people don't know how much it takes to sas a 3rd gen. Spent over 12k in brand new parts and countless hours of labor on top of that. Yet im still getting low balled even after dropping the price.

Welcome to the world of instant offroad parts deflation lol

In all reality, it's a decent price. High mileage and salvage title is likely why you're getting low balled. There's no real good return for building a 4Runner like this and then selling it, regardless of it's condition. Fix the RMS leak and trans leak, that will help the sale. People don't want to pay that kind of money and immediately have to dig into a RMS job and also figured out why the trans is leaking.

I am in the middle of building my 3rd generation and have watched your sell for some time now. My buddy Andrew actually knows you and has tried to get me to purchase this for months.

I am sure you put a lot of time and effort into this, placing an axle under and IFS rig is far from easy. The build is decent and you have a list of excellent parts. Unfortunately with the high miles and the rig being recently built people will stay clear because most will think there are issues with the build or mechanical issues. I am not saying there are any, but I buy and sell a lot of that is what I gather from the majority of buyers.

If you are not hurting to sell this, wait it out and the right buyer will come. If you are trying to sell this quickly, price is under 9K and I would imagine it will be gone in a couple of weeks.

Try other sites, Pirate 4x4, Toyota World, Glamis Dunes.. etc.. OH and edit the price in the title ;-)

What are you going to build/buy next?

I considered it, but decided against it. My current ride has zero isseus and I am going to link the front and have already started to collect parts.
