Well when I sold my built 4th gen to buy this cherry I swore to myself that I would never get rid of this truck for the rest of my life. I looked long and hard to find one in as immaculate condition as this was and couldn't be happier with the outcome. I somewhat impulsively just purchased a 14 trail edition when Toyota offered 0% on it so now I am putting my cherished 3rd gen for sale.
This truck is in absolute amazing condition. The paint looks like new, the interior is 100% free of rips, tears, stains, fading, etc. The frame and suspension parts only have the normal minimal surface rust - when I installed the lift approx. 15k miles ago, I pulled off factory bolts that had been on there since day 1 and none were rusted, seized, anything. I am constantly impressed with this truck and get complements on it literally every single day. Everyone that knows me tells me that I'm crazy to sell this truck, and maybe I am, but I don't off road or anything and I just don't have use for 2 vehicles.
I am the 3rd owner - 1st was a GA Tech professor that maintained it religiously until about 2.5 years ago when he sold to a Toyota tech. That owner installed the supercharger at 190k miles, so this has only been boosted for about 25k miles total. Truck has been in north Georgia its entire life until I brought it to Savannah 2 years ago.
I purchased it from him in north Ga summer of 2012 - it was completely stock minus the supercharger and in cherry condition.
when I purchased at 190k, I immediately had the water pump and timing belt done as well as multiple gaskets, seals, hoses, etc. Pretty much a full overhaul, not because it needed it, but just for peace of mind. My entire thought process for this truck has been do whatever I can to ensure that it will run and drive like new for as long as possible.
This truck has never been off road. No, seriously. It has been a daily driver all it's life and I just put the suspension mods on it to improve looks and make it ride better, which it does. No major scratches or dings in the paint anywhere. I run 93 octane fuel but it is not necessary without the smaller SC pulley. With 98 I'm getting combined MPG of 17 with a few hundred pounds of mountain bike/ camping gear in the back.
This truck drives straight and has zero handling issues. I have driven long distances multiple times and it is fairly comfortable for a 16 year old truck. The only thing to highlight is that some sort of power surge from the LED taillights shuts off cruise control when you use your turn signal. Same effect as hitting your brake, cruise stays on but the speed setting is turned off. I figured I could deal with it for the modern looking taillights. Also, radio antenna motor doesn't work - I just leave it down all the time and still pick up all radio stations without issue.
