Fuel gauge problems

Old thread, but I have a similar problem.
My 2008 fuel gauge has been acting up, occasionally showing 1/4 when there is 1/2 or more, showing 3/4 after a fillup and minutes to hours later shows to full.

I'll post back if I can track down the cause.

With 180+ miles I may have fuel pump and sending unit replaced.
I know it will be expensive but I want to keep it for a long time. It is in excellent condition.
If it is the gage, well, I screwed up then.

I would get factory unit.

Took forever, but I found the following instructions for troubleshooting.

In my example, I found that I have continuity on the wires from the cluster back to the harness that connects to the sending unit, but there is no voltage when I connect pin 2 (on the wiring harness) to ground with the key on. This test rules out the sending unit as being the problem.

I took the cluster into a place that fixes these things, but I still can't get the gauge to move. Simply connecting pins 2 & 3 on the wiring harness with the key on should make the gauge move to full, but instead it just shows 15K ohms resistance (resistance seems to be coming from the cluster). The place I took it to happened to have a similar cluster and when they tested resistance on their cluster (pins 3 & 11 on connector C10 of the cluster), it read 15K as well, which surprised me, so now I have no idea where the issue is.

I also noticed that a few cluster lights are not working and on the LCD display when I change modes, the Range mode does not come up (it is just blank). I tried checking all the fuses and making sure the ground wire has a good ground. If anyone has any ideas on what to check next, I would be grateful.

We have a problem with the fuel gauge in our V8. It appears to be miswired to the accelerator, such that if you push hard on the pedal, the gauge needle winds counterclockwise rapidly. Very. Those doggone folks on the Yoda assembly line obviously weren't paying attention when they built the thing.
