I have heard seafoam is supposed to be very good but it shouldn't be used very often

I had a friend who ought a used Jeep Cherokee Sport as a beater; he put a can of Sea Foam in the tank and drove it madly. It purrs now.
+1 in adding it before filling up.
I also adhere to changing the oil soon after I run some BG 44k through mine.

The Techron bottle says its good for 8-12 gallons so usually add it to the tank when its half full and run it down to E. Preferrably adding it just before a road trip so the constant flow and injector use helps scrub the pintle clean. So if you add it to a tank of gas, you want to rinse it down with fresh gas. The concentrated injector cleaner will degrade the filler neck if its allowed to sit there. So rinse it or wait to add when you are filling up. I use a little gas from the can in my garage (non-oiled gas) to chase it.
They also sell a larger bottle of Techron good to 18 gallons. Wal-Mart has both, NAPA only has the small one. I use the large one just before a fill-up shortly before I'm planning to do an oil change.

I'd be a little bit careful about using some of this stuff. We are already stuck putting ethanol in our tanks every time we fill up. Ethanol is a type of alcohol. It absorbs water which can be good to a point for removing water from our tanks but can also cause our fuel systems to be damaged if too much water is constantly absorbed into them. A lot of these additives have some kind of alcohol derivative in them.
Basically anything that ends in "ol" is some kind of alcohol. So all that bad news you hear about ethanol messing up our older fuel systems (especially as they start upping the % of ethanol they put in to 15 or 20%) well we are just making it worse by adding more alcohol. I'd try to find additives that say they contain no alcohol in them.

I have the large bottle of Techron, does a full tank. I saw on You Tube a car guy who said you should let the tank run down almost empty and then after adding the injector cleaner put gas one grade higher which means 1 up from regular. I did this the first time before the summer but gas prices have gone up so much not into letting the tank run down or paying the extra price for higher grade gas.
