Fuel Injector + Knock Sensor CEL codes -- separate issues or related?

Hey guys, I've had a few Check Engine Light (CEL) codes or pending codes over the past few weeks.

Here's the short summary:
 • CEL light came on and threw P0330 code (knock sensor). Over the course of a week, the code came back and I cleared it each time and after the 3rd or 4th occurrence it stayed off
 • Engine ran very rough while coming back from the mountains and had three pending codes (no CEL on) for P0300, P0302, P0303 (random misfire, misfire cylinder 2 and 3)
 • Drove to work the next day and the engine ran very rough on the highway, CEL came on, and got P0330 code (knock sensor).
 • Replaced 3 coil packs, 6 spark plugs, and spark plug wires
 • After replacing those parts, the only code I get is P0303 (cylinder 3 misfire). Sometimes CEL turns on with the code and sometimes only a pending code is shown. The car consistently runs rough when started warm and but settles down a little after idling for a few minutes. It sounds a bit rough on the highway and feels like there is some power loss.
 • Today I checked the resistance of the injectors on cylinders 1, 3, and 5. The resistance of injector #3 is higher, so it's pretty clear that it needs replacement

Here's picture to break this post up and because everyone loves pictures:

Ok so now I'm 99% sure a simple injector swap will fix the cylinder 3 misfire. I am planning on using this kit - LCE Performance Injectors

But what about those few times I got the knock sensor code....could it somehow be related to the injector issue? Or is it an entirely separate issue that will probably pop up again right after I fix the injector?I'm trying to decide if I should go ahead and replace the knock sensors and knock sensor wiring harness (or maybe just the harness) while doing the injectors. What are your thoughts and experience?

Thank you!

Replace BOTH sensors with OEM only and the $25 sub-harness assembly. Might as well do it now while the manifold is off.

Unrelated codes by the way. I've said it before on here but the codes are the ECM letting you know it's having issues reading the knock sensor. Potential failure or a hard failure. Resetting the code is temporary at best.

I think between BlackRustBucket and myself we should put together a sticky on Knock Sensors....It seems to come up a lot.

Oh nice, only two to replace not three! That saves me $140 :D

So it must be a complete coincidence that I first saw both the misfire and knock sensor codes within the same week.

I've read your posts/threads about the knock sensor, they were very helpful. I'll definitely go OEM for the knock sensors I'm looking to do this only once.

Yes only two. There's one per bank. Even though you're only getting the 0330 code, the 0325 code may or may not follow shortly or who knows, perhaps another 10,000 miles. It's best to just get both of them done at the same time and be done with it for another 100K or better.

The harness gets pretty brittle down there and has a tendency to crack and literally fall apart. Again, fairly cheap to just replace it.

Be sure to take some pics before you get started and install NEW OEM O rings on the fuel injectors. (Quality rubber v. cheap aftermarket.)

Install ALL of the bolts including the long bolt in the center. Tape and rag and don't drop anything and you'll be alright.

OEM gaskets or Felpro - up to you. I use Felpro. They've been around for decades and go on dry. Just do it right the first time and you won't be chasing down a vacuum leak.

Lot's of awesome peeps on here more than willing to give you some advice as needed. I get pretty tied up during the day taking care of Corporate America.
