Fuel Injector Replacement help needed

So I am in the middle of replacing my #1 fuel injector. I had checked it when it was on the 4R with a multimeter and it was not registering a number, and the other 2 on that side were at 16.
Now that I have all 3 off the car I decided to check them again and they are all reading 16?

Did I just do it wrong when they were on the vehicle? (I did it 2 different times on 2 different days).

I am confused...

normally they are about 14-15ohm on the coils (the ones I have tested) but 16 could be normal also or a meter variance. The one you checked could show open of it was damaged and the vibe and motion from removing it could have caused it to make contact again.

Ok thanks. Well I guess I will swap out the #1 still. Now I am worried this still won't solve my p0301. Ugh.

P0301 is almost always a bad spark plug, bad coil, or bad injector so you're on the right track. Sometimes parts don't fail "completely" but fade in and out like what you are experiencing.

Yeah, already swapped coils and replaced wires and plugs so it better be the injector! :violin:

Swapped out the #1 and it is running smoothly now for the most part! Thank you Jesus!

However, it runs rough (drops RPM) at idle , especially when cold. Stalled a few times at idle as well.

The stalling and idle issues have gone away, but I now have a p0171 (System Too Lean (Bank 1)). Any ideas what this would likely be after a fuel injector replacement? Am I right in thinking this could be a fuel injector problem (too little flow) OR a high air issue (broken hose, MAF issue, etc.)?

high air issue for sure... when you took off the intake plenum, did you replace the gaskets and torque to spec? No idle issues though? With a vac leak high enough to throw a code you'd have some idle issues...check the hoses and confirm on new intake gaskets...

New FI working with 5 used FIs?

Putting in one new injector instead of all 6 could be trouble - I found a used injector on ebay to put in my Camry.

Start with the upstream o2 sensor or A/F sensor (two cats are present) if it is original (just Denso or Toyota here).

If you can get access to a live data feed, you can tell if the O2/AF sensor has bought the farm.

Almost certain you didn't put something back together right and now you have a vacuum leak. But first, pull the EFI relay in the engine bay fuse box for a minute or two then put it back in.

Then do this:

Just came across a cheap smoke test done our own beloved 4Runners. If you like smoking I guess this would work too:

Thanks guys!
I didn't take off the plenum since it was #1. Just had to take the intake and throttle body off. I only replaced the #1 injector, but all 3 o-rings for that side.
I am away on business now, but I will check for a leak after I get back.

Did you replace the gasket on the throttle body or re-use the old one? The old might have cracked or chipped if you tried to re-use it.

I managed to put on in upside down once. Still don't know how I didn't notice it was wrong.

I replaced it. 99% sure it was on correctly.
