Fuel Pump?

Wanted to share my experience and see if i could get some feedback....so i was driving about a month ago and my car started to have throttle response issues.. it would get up to speed but with about half of the preformance (ex: floor it and it would hesitate and take forever to get to 50mph). i came home and hooked a code reader up to the car and got nothing. unplugged the battery and reconnected it and the problem went away. jump forward a week and now the car is doing something different.

For the last two weeks when i turn the car on it will do the normal dry crank for three cranks and when it does its final crank and adds fuel as it turns over the car almost boggs down for a split second and sometimes sound like its going to die then turns over.

after driving the car and its warm if i turn it off and turn her back on 20 min later she's fine but if i leave her for 5+ hrs same problem.

Is this the sign for a dying fuel pump?

Perhaps dirty MAF? Have you tried cleaning it? Maybe sea-foaming could help you identify your problem also

Also the bog under throttle does sound more like ignition/timing. Have you checked the plugs?

Oh i forgot. just cleaned my k&n filter and cleaned my MAF and unplugged the battery again. also before this problem started happening i sea foamed the car. 1/3 gas tank. 1/3 engine oil. 1/3 vacuum tube. 100 miles later changed oil. within 100 miles this problem started.

Well frik there goes my assistance :redbrick:

ha ha so this started within 100 miles after you did all this maintenance? And you did all this at once? hmm.... i would venture to say problem is definitely related to something that was affected by your maintenance. I would try cleaning the MAF again carefully, and check ignition system/plugs

Not saying for certain this is the issue, but I have read other posts where people are against oiled filters because the oil can make its way to the MAF and damage it. However, I have read just as many posts saying that this is total nonsense and that they have never had issues with their oiled filters. Just throwing out any information that might be helpful. If it is possible that you over oiled your filter, you might want to try cleaning your MAF again. Hope you figure it out.

My vote is that you overoiled the kn filter and contaminated the maf. I did this on a Ford thundrbird years ago and no longer use kn filters. The check engine light came on on the t-bird and the performance got sluggish. Seems like once the sensor got contaminated it was not the same again. I had to clean it much more often even with the stock type air cleaner but everytime I cleaned it the performance came right back.
