Fuel pumps.

Hey guys,

My 2000 4 runner has been stalling on me quit a bit on me lately and I have been troubleshooting it for a while with no luck. I replaced the fuel filter last week and that didn't do the trick. The check engine light is not on so I think it might be the screen/filter at the bottom of the fuel pump. I was told you access the fuel pump on the 2000's under the rear seat and you do not have to drop the tank. Has anyone had to do this? Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated!

You can access the wiring that way but in order to get to the pump, you need to drop the tank. If you are going to do that, just replace the pump. At rockauto.com you can buy the Denso pump OEM, for $100. It took me 3 hrs to replace mine last December and it fixed my hard start when warm issue. I was ableto to drop the tank without lifting the truck but i also have nerf bars which give more room than factory running boards. I posted the correct terminal connections to drain the tank using the pump in a thread by singtoe. You just need to use a jumper wire to energize the pump once you open the lines by the filter.
