My 2000 4Runner has over a 100K miles on it. Whats a good fuel system cleaner that I can put in the gas tank? How often should I use these?

Thanks

Avoid the cheap garbage and pony up $20 for a can of BG's 44K and dump a can in at least by every 20k miles or once a year.

Check out a product called "Sea Foam" i got it at NAPA and it seems to work very well.

There is a thread in this section called Sea Foam , check that out too.

hey casper the auto rx....would an oil change need to be undertaken soon after it was introduced into the engine?
or is it business as usual after its in?
have you used it before?

4x4Runner09,

1) What symptom indicates your fuel system needs cleaning?
2) Does Toyota recommend this for maintenance?

Nothing in particular. My vehicle just hit 100k so I want to keep it in tip top shape. Should there be any symptons of this?

I do not put anything in my tank except for gas. I have never seen anything that indicates that the injectors get dirty or clogged. My Jeep has over 200,000 miles on it and I have never used anything for the fuel system.

23 gallons of fuel is 2952 ounces. If you take an 8 oz bottle of cleaner then it is (8/2936)*100 or a 0.272 percent concentration. Those products must be miracle cleaners?

My dealer tried to sell me a $ 149 Motorvac Fuel System Cleaning!

I used Auto-Rx on my previous vehicle, a '97 grand prix that was pretty well maintained and didnt notice much, if any benefit to it. That being said Ive seen photos of the stuff doing great work to break down sludge and varnish in high mileage and less than well maintained engines. Basically you start with fresh oil and Auto Rx, run for 1000 or 1500 miles (cant remember exactly, its been a while), change the oil, run another 2000 miles, then change the oil again.
