I'm looking to do a hot-swap of sorts, losing some oil in the process, and if a washer of some type is desirable, I'd like to have that ready...

Just wait for your next oil change. Not need to 'hot swap' - you'll waste more oil than you think and make a huge mess.

But to answer the rest of your question, I have always used the included gasket with success.

I will not attempt a "hot swap" with the factory drain plug and this valve. You all have successfully dissuaded me from the imminent mess. And, I remember such on another vehicle before. That said, I also had an experience that went very well though...

I will drain the pan into a clean container at some point soon though as I want this valve in-place, before I install the skids...

I put mine in back in January of 2015 and I used the gasket that came with it. As it is a "install once" kind of thing, I never changed the gasket. It has never leaked and works great (other than the slow draining).

With respect to slow draining, I usually take an empty Mobil1, four quart container and leave it under the drain point overnight. (Put a pan under the container for overflow).

I'm like at least a few here who prefer getting a good overnight drain. With engine oil warm to a tolerable hot, I first crack open the oil fill cap, then the drain plug, after all is seemingly out, then I loosen the oil filter, and with that, more drains out. To minimize dribble out of the oil filter (mess), I gradually unscrew it, allowing more to exit from the drain...

I use the slow drain time to do other work on the truck. Rotate tires, check pressures, check the undercarriage, etc. There's always beer too...
