Yeah, LOL, very astute....

I owned the Land Rover for less than 1/2 a year. I spent a bunch on preventative maintenance and getting it squared away. Changed all the fluids to synthetic, replaced battery, starter, 02 sensors, belts, some hoses, overflow tank, etc. etc. It is a cool truck, but I decided that it was not going to be able to do what I needed it to do, which is drive a lot w/o concerns. I have driven the 4Runner at a pace of more than 20K miles a year, at 30K plus now. I finally decided that a 7 year old LR was not going to be a platform to dump money on more off road mods into. The LR was an expensive lesson for me, but I think all the work I did served the new owner well.
 
seems to me that LR owners fall in love with the name and look and 4runner owners want the rock solid dependibilty and dont care so much about the looks as long as it gets them from a-b over and over again w out failing them, but i still think the look of the 5th gens are awesome just have to "grow" on some peeps
