UPS delivered just in time for the weekend.



Odometer is at 99,568 miles. Gonna replace the plugs. Got the grease pump for doing the axle/diff lube thingy that so many of you talk about. And replacement oil filter since I'm doing 10K Mobile 1 synth oil changes and replacing filter half way (queue lectures on why I shouldn't go 10K). :whipping2

I do the same for my wife's Mazda CX-9. Notice there are 2 filters...one is taller than the other. I'm curious as to why the V6 CX-9 takes a bigger filter than the V8 4Runner. Maybe because the Ford-based engine in the CX-9 sheds more metal?

Um... I only see a fluid transfer pump. Are you referring to changing the oil in your differentials and transfer case?

If you're talking about greasing your axle and joints, I hope you have a grease gun behind the transfer pump.

Yup, that pump will work great for transfer case and differential fluids but if you're going to do the drive shaft then you'll need one of these:

Plus some grease of course - I use Mobil 1. Should be able to get both of them at Auto Zone or Napa. Looks like it's going to be a fun weekend though.

BTW, just a recommendation but I would do the transfer and diff fluids tomorrow morning as early as possible just in case you strip a screw or something and need to run to a Toyota dealer and get another. Ask me how I know that

And don't forget to remove your fill plug before your drain plug. Good luck on the front drain.

Well that's pretty cool. Are you installing those yourself or bringing it to a shop? If you're using a shop - which one are you using? I might want to do something similar but I don't have air tools and don't relish the idea of doing it all with hand tools.

JP Euro : Dallas Independent Lexus, Toyota, BMW, & Mercedes Service Center

He has loaner cars, including a Land Cruiser.

No worries, I go 20K, filter change at 10K.

Why yes I did. Under the advisement of OW's Andries, I opted for All-Pro 3.5" rear springs. Reason being, I've ordered the CBI rear bumper and swingout. That system is 190 lbs, so the 3.5" rear springs will help preserve the OW lift.

I am at this very moment looking at the black All-Pro springs sitting in my office and researching the best way to paint them blue or yellow. Decided not to do red, otherwise I'll be accused of being a copycat.

I feel like pastidip would work well because it's soft and can flex, but I dunno maybe PC? It seems like coils are gonna be tough cuz they flex so much.

Scouring through multiple threads on various forums about painting the springs. Seems people are happy with Krylon paint.

PC = personal computer, probable cause, politically correct, panama city, or in this case - powder coat.

Hahaha didn't see that post on flickr!! I had BFG ATs first!!! Lol I've regretted parting with them ever since, happy to have em again.

Yeah I've been searching myself for a while and probably read the same stuff s you. Seems like plastidip or the krylon fusion would work well since they're both made to flex but I can't say I've tried it.

Another member on here painted all his FJ springs red before installing but I can't remember who it was. May be worth a search to see how his are holding up?
