I remember that post but I think he ended up stripping the paint in fear of it cracking all to crap per your advisement. I was going to post the same thing but you beat me to it on that thread.

yep you're right, it was BReardon and he did strip the paint back off.
jedi, I read where someone talked about filling a 5 gallon bucket with 4 gal of water, then adding a layer 2" thick of oil based paint, letting the mixture settle (so the paint had time to settle on the top), then dipping the coils and hanging them to dry.... He claimed that was how they did it from the factory, but I honestly don't know. Just reposting his info.

Good point. I'll give it a try with the OW wrench. Was reading the instructions for the rear install to see if it is something I can do myself.

It's pretty easy, would be easier with sliders and a hi lift, but all you have to do is disconnect the rear shocks and the sway bar end links then jack one side up until the spring basically falls out, put the new coil in, then do the same on the other.
It only takes about 20-30 minutes and the most tedious part is removing the nut from the end link. I'd recommend getting a ratcheting wrench (or set) for that part!

Hmmm...maybe I'll try it. I do my own brake work, oil changes, and fluid changes. But suspension has always intimidated me.
