Is that this much newer, 2006 4Runner, is CHEAPER to insure, than my 2000 Dodge Ram!! We were stunned when we got the paperwork in today on our coverage.

I guess that top SUV safety rating really does help with insurance rates. I knew I loved this 4Runner!!!! :bigok:

I was pleasantly surprised when I called my company as well. I was expecting at least 150/month but it turned out to be 105 and some change!

isn't it your driving record plays a bigger role when it comes to car insurance?
I've been told that there are a number of factors that come into play, so no telling which ones are more important than others. It may even vary by carrier. Some apparently even use your credit rating as a factor.

credit rating, maybe tells alot about a person.

speaking of credit rating, an acquaintance once said that some employer doesnt have to interview an applicant, and just looked at the CR.

i recently made the switch to USAA. 2 days ago actually and I was surprised that switching was significantly cheaper than the policy I had. I am now paying 47 dollars a month for full coverage and I am only 27. The agent said that my clean driving record played a large part in my discounts (living overseas for 7 years will do that for you:D) She also asked if i had a drivers safety course and a drug and alcohol awareness course. I didn't, but she said that when I completed them to let her know and I would get further discounts.

Me too, I thought it would cost me $2k a year, but it's about a tad over $100 a month. Gotta love the 4Runner.

I wonder what kind of damage a S2000 will do.

Wow you guys have some high insurance. I think the 4Runner's was about 700 a year for me. And I have more tickets than I am years old (but through some manipulations of the system, none are on my driving record hehe) I think for the three vehicles we kept insured, we pay about 950 every six months, so aobut 1900 a year for three vehicles insured. Two full coverage, one liability comprehensive.

And we are with AllState. They also are the carriers of our homeowner's insurance. :D

My 02 4runner was cheaper than my 93 F150 up until last year.

Driving record, and multi-line discounts definitely helped, but my ins. agent said one major part was all the safety equipment the 4runner has that my F150 does not have.

I pay right around 90 bucks a month for full coverage and renter's insurance.

Its hard to compare one person's rates to another because of the various discounts one insurance company has versus another and the zip code of residence, not to mention the amount of protection. For full coverage at 100K/300K, I pay right at $60 a month for my 05 Limited, but that is in part because my wife is on my policy and her 07 Acura TL is $68 a month. My premiums (and hers) would be higher if we didn't get the multi-car discount.

Wow, I bet you were happy to see that. I was also surprised that the GX470 was much cheaper to insure than a 4Runner.

Ya, yet another reason why Las Vegas sucks ass! I'm also only 27 but I don't have any tickets/accidents on my record and my insurance is with USAA so I blame it fully on being in the car theft capital of the nation. It would be around 90/month if I were at home in Washington state. Which I do register it there so maybe I should switch.... Oh and not to mention I have NEVER, repeat NEVER seen worse drivers in my life. Not in LA, any part of California, back east, nowhere! I seriously don't know how more people aren't dying every day here on the roads.

I remember when I was looking at buying my truck a few years back. My agent said that the 4runner was much cheaper to insure than even a JGC or Trailblazer/Envoy with the same features. Im sure it goes back to the safety ratings.
