I'm glad I live in a dry climate.

I sure wish I did. My rust is being held at bay by a lot of Rust Check spray and gel, and the underneath looks a lot like fightman's.

Buying new is barely worth it as even the 2010's on the lot since the spring are starting to show rust on screws and whatnot.

There's no perfect solution up here.

I'm glad you're defeating the rust monster but the underneath looks like their alot of build up on everything. Is that stuff hardened or does it rub off if you touch it. Working underneath looks like a messy proposition.

I did my first application of Por-15 this saturday. It went really slow, is a bit of a pain to do the full 3 step process (marine clean, metal ready, then por-15), but it looks really good, and hopefully will be permanent. The rustoleum crap I put on the back is already rusted through, what junk. This winter will try the Por-15.

Yeah, I don't think I would like to try to work under your truck fightman. I get annoyed enough every time I put my hand in the pile of grease that has built up under my slip joint. I would hate it if everything was coated in oil and grime. Not to mention getting even more crap falling into my face randomly. Have you ever washed some parts off to check if you are getting rust underneath all that grime?

I do like your TRD badge in the grille. I got one too but havn't mounted it yet. I want to do the satoshi mod, but until that day comes, I like the way you mounted yours.

No I haven't. The vehicle already had a fair amount of rust when I bought it used from the Dealer. I wouldn't imagine that there would be any further corrosion, as it's well saturated with the grease and motor oil. Have you ever seen an engine with rust corrosion inside?? I doubt it, same would apply here. As long as you keep on top of spraying it annually, it works.

I completely agree though about it being messy and a pain to work on, but if you think about it......it's a TOYOTA! You rarely have to work on it, and the oil is cheap insurance for keeping your rig as long as you can! :driving:
