I read somewhere (I don't remember where exactly) but someone said that since the main reason Toyota took the FJ Cuiser off the market was because of strict government regulations of fuel consumption. Then they said that the 4Runner was next to receive a new engine because of fuel regulations. If that is so, I don't think a little 4-banger could handle the 4Runner and it's size and weight. Not to mention it's off-road handling. If Toyota does do something, would they put a turbo on it? They haven't on any other vehicles in the lineup. So I'm kind of worried about this info.
I'm also kind of worried about the next gen being a "crossover" SUV. Which I believe will happen sooner or later.
Anyway, any thoughts on these topic would be appreciated.
