Gabex35's Build Thread

Gabe what shop do f you use to install your shocks, I'm planning on going with kings and have a 14 with kdss and going to need the mounts for the resis installed?

The "Truck Shop" in miramar did the resi mounts. Came out pretty good and were relatively cheap. Be ready to wait or have something else planned because they're not very good with short turnaround times.

Hey Gabe
Did you ever do the E locker mod on your TE, If so which one did you do? I just did the one that LWN did a write up on but it throughs a CEL... I was hoping someone has found a better way to mod for the E locker.

I haven't wheeled since my trip to the FJ summit in July, so I needed to get out for a day trip. I decided to take a trip up to the snow.

There wasn't much snow remaining after the dump a few weeks ago, but luckily I found some fun icy water crossings.

Great build and great read! I have a feeling my rig may look similar to yours one day.

I came over from the FJ too. Do you feel your 4Runner is just as capable?

I miss the shorter wheelbase, but other than that it's pretty much the same, if not better.

Finding a place for the dual would be tough for me as i have my SPOD in the space you are considering but the dual is the way to go for an onboard compressor. its fast, relatively quiet and runs surprisingly cool compared to my single.

New job caused some delays, but now that I'm about to get a compressor I remembered this comment. Your comments make it sound like you'd go with the ARB twin compressor over the single if you had to do it over again...?

If I had the space (outside the cab) I would go with the dual. My buddy has it in an FJ and he finishes all 4 of his tires when I'm just starting my third. I like the built in fan too, it runs cool to the touch. The single will melt your skin off lol

That helps, thanks! It'll be awhile till I do lockers, but my patience for things like airing up tires is admittedly not realistic so if it's that noticeable of a difference I may just bite the bullet and go with the twin.

Gabex35 Have you considered trimming the fill pieces off of your stock front bumper to fill in where the messed up shrockwork fill pieces are? Then they would match and would prolly look better. Just a thought.

Also one other thing. Your first rear coil springs css, those are only 1" lift? How did they ride with no gear? Do you still have them? I am asking because I might be interested in them. I have a set of SAW rear springs but took them off because it still just rode to high for me but, I think an 1" might be the cat's meow.

Thanks. I am in SD also btw, lemme know

The 1" coils gave me exactly 1" without gear and rode just like the standard Icon coils. With light to moderate gear it still rode pretty level. I sold them a while ago but would highly recommend them.

I know this is from a long time ago but I went through your build to see if you sold those OPOR sliders, did you sell them?

My front and rear Shrockworks bumpers arrive today and I'll do the install this or next weekend.

Where did you mount your solenoid box? I'm looking at mounting it in the engine bay and buying longer wiring, but if it can be mounted somewhere closer without needing to buy longer wires, that would be ideal.

Awesome truck btw, I just read through your whole build thread, very impressive and looks like fun!
