Yeah, the front is taller to account for the curve. Just measured and the highest point (at back of roof) is 4.25"

So I've been working on building a trailer for family outings and finally got it ready for a DMV inspection (god help me). Should be registered by tomorrow and coated by next weekend for an ocotillo trip.

I've had a chance to get out of the grind the last couple of months to wheel before my next kid comes along and it's been a winter for the books for me. Southern California rarely sees wet winters the likes of 2016/2017. Here are a few photos from the last couple of outings.
In December, my buddy and I did big bear during a big snow storm before heading east to start the Mojave Trail.

This was our first time doing the trail and it was a great time of year to explore it. The heavy rains we had received the weeks leading up to the trip closed down some of the trail and we were forced to find our way...usually in the middle of the night. Next trip we'll make sure to keep night wheeling to a minimum so we can see more of the landmarks.

Just this past weekend, we headed out to our local desert to meet up with the group from American Adventurist for their annual SoCal desert rendezvous.
I finished up my trailer in November but didn't want it's maiden voyage to be on the Mojave trail. So I was pumped about taking it out this weekend to give it a good shake down. Overall I am super happy with the way it came out. There a few things I'll tweak here and there but it's pretty much there...

Thanks man, I have not re-geared yet. I was on the fence about 4.56 vs. 4.88 but after this weekends trip towing the trailer I am pretty comfortable going with 4.56. the truck was probably the lightest its ever been on a trip due to everything being in the trailer and it drove quite well. So with a good amount of weight over stock, 315's, and towing I think the 4.56 will work out fine for me.
I do occasionally drive it to work or LA so having it not rev too high will be nice for "daily" driving.
the plan is to regear in april/may once my son is born as I wont be doing a whole lot of anything and I can take my time with the install and break-in.

One more question, I know it's been well documented that the ko2's are undersized. Can you shine some light as to how undersized your 315s are?

i cant say that I've personally measured these. they were noticeably bigger than the 285's I replaced. after looking over tire racks specs of this size I would say they are pretty accurate. 34.4 x 12.5

I went with the 4.56 two years ago, it definitely added power. I don't drive over maybe 80mph when passing, so I did not feel like I lost top end that i needed. Biggest benefit is the low speed crawling you can do in Low 1. In retrospect I would have gone with 4.88 for even more low end crawl. Just ordered the Nitto Trail Grappler 285 75 17, so will be seeing how 34" fit next weekend when installed.

Oh my, this is my favorite runner for sure. The 315 KO2s look amazing as does the trailer. I'm inspired! In fact, mine is going to look very similar to your previous iteration soon.

Whoa buddy, is this your first? Man I thought being home a lot with newborns might allow for some projects around the house, my son is 7, daughter 5, and I'm still waiting for that free time to appear. Ive got a stack of mods ready to go, but it's always something with the kids or work keeping me out of the garage.
