Garbage

And if talking doesn't work, you can always wheel their garbage can waaaaay down the block, or even throw it in the back of your truck and find a dumpster to toss the whole thing in... Obviously, they can't park the garbage can in front of your house if they don't have one to park there. Then you can do this when they go looking for it>>>>> :flipoff:

I haven't run into him outside yet, but I continued to return the garbage on his side, and after 2 days, he gave up! Hopefully he's not just playing possum.....I'm still going to talk to him when I see him.....but he keeps different hours.....if you know what I mean!

BTW, it's not a garbage can he's placing on my property, it's a couple of boxes with garbage in them. I even found an old rug with a Dog turd smashed into it! The guy is just being a dink!

Thanks for all the advice guys! Here's some more details. Basically, the guy is placing his garbabe on the small patch of grass just outside my fence, at the edge of the road. I'm not even sure if it's considered my property, but common! It's like parking a motorhome in front of your neighbours house! You just don't do that! The other thing to consider, is there are 3 people living there. An older looking biker guy, his wife, and their younger 20 something son. The son, I'm pretty convinced is a drug dealer.....cars are always coming and going, and only visit for a couple of minutes.....Oh, he also has a 100 lbs Rotweiler, which he sometimes has chained outside.

Since he has the huge dog, going to knock on the door, can be hazerdous. (now before you Rotty lovers get ticked off, I love Rotty's but this one is mean!) I've now placed the garbage on his side like 3 times already.....and again last night it ended up on my side I'm hoping to see him today so that I can talk to him about it.

Does anybody have anything else to add?

I'd be all over calling the tip line about that drug dealer issue. Nothing is worse than that as far as putting your family in danger.

We had an issue with the kid across the street (I say kid, but he was in his 40's) selling drugs. It was reported regularly. People would drive by at all hours and into the garage they'd go, and then right back out.

One day a group of particularly scary redneck looking mullet heads kept driving by really slowly. As is typically the case, they had a gun rack all loaded up in the back of their pickup and we finally called the cops. They looked to be out for revenge. The last thing I need is a gun battle 15 feet from my house.

The neighbor was finally arrested for dealing, his parents kicked him out, he got into rehab and seems clean now. It is such a huge difference in our neighborhood. When he comes by to visit his parents (he bought a house about 2 blocks away) we are actually glad to see him now. He has really turned his life around, and I don't hold a grudge. But for a long while I was hoping he'd just hurry up and get it over with and OD or something because I felt like he was putting my family in harms way by his actions. I mean.... what if some junky came looking for drugs and he wasn't there to sell? They might be popping out my car stereo or entering my home.

The last straw was when the next door neighbor to them (we are directly across the street) was robbed of basically everything they owned. We were out of town, as were the neighbors who had the drug dealer son, and the family who got robbed. My guess is they came by to buy a few times and saw he wasn't there and noticed the neighborhood was empty. They broke into the house next to them and loaded up those people's pickup truck with every valuable they had and took off. It was horrible for that family. They were ready to move. Things kind of went haywire and everybody hashed it out and the son was gone after that. My guess is his parents checked him into rehab, but I don't know the whole story. The neighborhood has improved greatly since then.

You should just start writing down license numbers of every car that pulls in and log the hours and amount of time they spend there. Report it to the police with all of your info and their detectives will look into it. They like those cases where others give them something good to go on, especially if you see a real pattern and give them people to go after specifically.

Good luck with all of it. Garbage is one thing... but a neighbor selling drugs is absolutely unacceptable. It puts everybody in danger and you've got to draw the line.

I was considering doing that myself.....do my own little investigation, and then notify the Police. I want to make sure that if I do, that it's done discreetly, as I have a family to protect and don't want them affected by it. I'm already in the Private security field, and try to keep my work life seperate from my home life. That is why I moved away from the Ghetto, to the outskirts of town, where nobody knows me! I arrest people on a weekly basis, and take measures so that they can't track me down later. (phone no listed, park in different areas, and try not to take the Runner to work) This guy seems pretty harmless, just a weed dealer, if I had to guess....but any drug deal can turn ugly, when money is involved....I'm definately going to take your advice into consideration. Maybe the garbage at the curb, won't be the only garbage leaving the neighbourhood......

I'm trying to think of a good way to end this because I've told them several times, but since they're gone and don't see it for themselves the problem basically doesn't exist to them. I can't leave trash all over the street all week long waiting for them to get back because the wind will blow it everywhere.

Any ideas?

I'd call the local police and forestry/wildlife bureaus about them deliberately feeding the bears (they know the bears are getting the food and they keep doing it!) and creating a dangerous and ecologically unsound situation. I'd leave it out and call the departments so they can see the scale of the problem. I would expect fines and cleaning fees in your neighbors' futures and likely a change in behavior.

That's a good idea, I like the "feeding the bears" thing. That may just work..

Just go and talk to them, if the dog attacks you, thats their problem and their liability, don't do anything offensive as that will make the situation worse, and i doubt not dealing with it will help either.

I don't know if this has been resolved, but I had to chime in. I definitely don't agree with the above bolded comment - If you've never been attacked by a dog, then it is real easy to say that it's the owner's problem, but there is also the hospital visits, rabies issue, time off work, mental anguish, etc. It's like getting into a car accident that is the other driver's fault - well yeah, it's their problem, but it takes a good 3 months to settle an accident without any physical injury and that definitely puts a huge burden on your own life. I definitely don't recommend messing with a dog that 'may' be unstable - been there and it was bad - Couldn't walk for 2 weeks. It was over 10 years ago and I still hardly will even pet a dog that i 'know' is a good dog.

The issue has been resolved......I simply persisted to return his garbage to his side, and he eventually gave up!

As for the Dog attack, I would agree with the last statement, it may be the owners responsibility, but recovering from an attack could take a long time, if you survive at all......

I want to thank everybody who gave advice in this thread, it was much appreciated.
